I guess if I had it pitched that way to me, I would have enjoyed it, but I went in expecting "legitimate action movie", and that was not what I got.

I dunno about the pirating and corruption, but I'd assume so. It was the switch to DVD, which meant you could get a prefect grade knockoff made for literally pennies, and copy them millions of times in minutes, instead of having to run a bank of VCRs.
