The book is really funny. The movie, unfortunately, isn't. And while Burt Reynolds' character could have been funny, it's obvious he's got his nose in the air throughout the entire performance, as if he was better than the character (also, Hiaasen never had the character making a "family values" speech, as it was too

I wish he wasn't defending STRIPTEASE. That was just an awful movie, which is too bad, because it's based on one of Hiaasen's funnier novels. But Demi Moore seemed to think she was making an expose or something about women having to strip, and all the comedy seemed to drain out of it, except when Ving Rhames was

Liotta especially. This may be my favorite performance as his ever. And yeah, this really is a good movie.

I wish I had liked it more. I thought Patrick was great in it - in fact, he was the best thing about it, along with Zooey Deschanel as the music teacher - but the movie was so disappointing to me. I know I'm being one of those "they messed with my favorite book, man!" people, but they did. For starters, it's as if the

Absolutely. I remember in the late 80's when it started playing on cable and I avoided it because I had heard it was a horror movie, and I was squeamish about them back then, but my friend convinced me to watch it, and I'm glad he did. And MacLachlan is so good in it; what seems like a flat performance works

Near as I can tell, it's attempting to be a Rat Pack movie for the 90's while doing it in the style of Rat Pack movies of the time. It doesn't really succeed, but I have to admit it's sort of fun to watch, and nowhere near as bad as its reputation would suggest.

The opening 5-10 minutes (after a symbolic credits scene) is a textbook example of how to open a movie, in showing how one moment of being irritated with someone can swell up to something more. And for most of the movie, everything's handled realistically in how society would break down if something like this

I saw it in the theater when it first came out - my father was a huge fan of the book, so this was one of the few "modern" movies he ever saw, and he actually took my brothers and I to see it - and I remember not really being able to follow it, but finding it kind of mesmerizing nevertheless. Some of the best visuals

Yes! I was just coming to write about that. It's one of the most disturbing portraits of sex ever made, and yet has some of the most erotically charged scenes ever. And yes, Theresa Russell…damn.

I dunno; I had the same problem with the movie as I had with the novel, as Campion gave the impression she was holding her nose up the entire time, and the entire attitude was, "I'm deigning to make an erotic thriller." I don't love Wild Things as much as many of the people here, but at least it wasn't ashamed of what
