It's certainly an entertaining movie, but I had the same problem with it that I had with NAKED LUNCH; it's a bit too proud of itself in its "this-is-the-real-world-no-this-is-the-dream" switcheroo game it plays on us near the end. Plus, Cronenberg kept saying in interviews how the movie was his statement about what

Hands down, one of the best opening sequences of any movie I've ever seen. And while the technology used in the movie might be a bit dated, and the ending goes off the rails somewhat, I think the movie still holds up very well because it's set in a recognizably "real" world, and Kathryn Bigelow's one of the best

True, and again, it only bothered me a little.

My problem with Sunnydale - and I don't think this was a problem Joss & company was ever able to solve - is that it always looked like a back lot. You could argue the same, I suppose, about Stars Hollow, but that was part of its charm (assuming, of course, you found it charming; I did). The school and Buffy's house

Saw him a couple of years ago, and though I haven't been to many concerts, it is probably the best show I've ever been to. And yes, it's something to see a man in his 70's moving around like he's 40 years younger, as well as giving a 3-hour and change concert without an intermission or much of a break.

No more "Hallelujah"! Please. It's his most overplayed and over-covered song.

I've never listened to all of "Jazz Police", but sorry, I like "Closing Time". Not only, as I quote above, does it have some of his best lyrics, it's also a great showcase for the women who sing backing vocals; they are really some of the best backing vocalists working in music today. Plus, the video is wonderfully

I don't know if it's "weird", necessarily, but one of my favorite lyrics is "And the whole damn place goes crazy twice/And it's once for the Devil and it's once for Christ".

"Lay the Favorite…often plays like Carl Hiaasen-light (which, in turn, is essentially Elmore Leonard-light)"

Okay, two things:
