That having the option to play as a woman in a video game in 2015 could be seen as huge progress is a pretty sad statement about the industry.

people aren't complaining about having more options and arbitrarily
saying it's sexist. they're saying the way those options are presented
in this specific game says a lot about an industry that has a lot of problems when it comes to telling more diverse stories.

I'd forgotten about that. God, that's gonna mess Sally up for a while.

I think he ate the eyes last.

Yeah, I don't think the scene was aiming for sadness and sadness alone, but rather the chaotic whirl of emotions that can accompany news like that. It helped show how her initial reaction was more bewhilderment than grief. She doesn't break down in sadness until the end of the episode. Grief can take its time to work

God, Sally instantly covering her ears when she heard about her mom's cancer hit me way way way too close to home. There was so much physical truth in that moment.

The one A vs. the one F in the Community Grade has me riveted. Who dares break the deadlock? Will a war erupt should a B- or C- sway the grade one way or another?

Eh, my parents raised six kids without hitting us. Inverse of the usual "I was spanked, but i turned out OK" line I suppose, but there you go. I managed to learn pretty well that the world is a harsh place and not to chase people with a baseball bat. And the "here kid, the world is tough. to teach you this, I will hit

I've never understood why corporal punishment advocates try to take the Tough Guy stance. I mean, regardless of where one stands on corporal punishment, you are advocating hitting tiny people who can't fight back. Feel free to defend its effectiveness, but don't pretend it's the side of testicular fortitude (that's

John My Beloved is as good a song as Sufjan Stevens has ever sung. I love this entire album, but John My Beloved is the standout song for me. It broke me down when I listened to it for the first time.

Christ. This is heartbreaking. I didn't know the guy, but it's a testament to how good he was at his art that I feel like a friend is gone. RIP, Harris.

She didn't mention Eric Garner, though. She said it was offensive to her that the cast of Selma had an opinion on Eric Garner. She brought that up even though it has nothing to do with the quality of Selma as a movie.

Ichabod would get along swimmingly with Ron Swanson. Ron's the only other character I can think of who would view a 41¢ tax on donut holes as cause for a revolution.

How about her just hanging up? The false dichotomy you present is far
more of a reach than anything in this review, which I think was more
than fair, as is your assertion that AV Club has "super hate" for as show whose lowest episode grade is a C.

Not sure what it was about Jenna that never clicked with voters, but she was going to go this week, no matter how good her routine was. The judges were not going to send home Hayley, making her first appearance in the bottom this late on, when Jenna was on her fifth trip there.

"You need look no further than a common TV commercial to see regular
examples of children being promoted as models of importance, while
adults are routinely laughed into the background. "

"I thought the two of them had no chemistry whatsoever and Makenzie was
so extremely out shined by Jakob that it was a little embarrassing."

"And I do not like Melanie one bit, so if you can't look good next to her for me, you sucked"

What a goddamn superb episode of this show. In one sense, Makenzie's elimination showed one of the drawbacks of the lack of an elimination episode: for the most part, each dance was one triumph after another (and even the weak links of Hayley and Nico weren't bad so much as glaringly fine), so having the episode end

I think he was arguing that the show's depiction of Skyler was sexist, and just used the much-debated subject of sexism aimed at her character as a launching pad. But the wording he used was a bit problematic for me, since if we're talking "real sexism", there's a LOT of that among those who despise Skyler.
