Cameron Crowe makes it seem effortless.
I think there's some magic in that this movie will never be remade. It's already as gritty as Hollywood can stand, plus it's an uber away from being 3 minutes long.
Lizzies were my favorite. The ninja assassins of 70s New York. Really shitty and weak ninjas, as effective as a Venus flytrap plant, but queens of the underworld nonetheless.
I never read the comics/books, but since the command was to "serve God", perhaps he knows these folks to be "evil" and he's dealing out some Old Testament. Maybe he thinks he's Matt Damon now.

He defined "loner" in that show. Just awkward with people, sullen and quiet. Then everything fell apart in s3.
I don't think it was dragged out. People flinched when he held the baby. The stroll down the cages, opening them slowly, was great. I won't call it suspenseful, but I certainly thought the set-up was worth the payoff.
