Agreed. AVTalk is a lot better than no AVtalk.

As I said above (or below), yeah, the review seems to make it like a B+, A- movie. He says its very funny in parts, and references Taxi Driver, Wes Anderson, and Punch Drunk Love, which are 3 Hipster D-bag hallmarks. Looks like a genuinely interesting movie. Maybe. Hopefully the AV Talk can help me make up my mind.
Anyone see Rogen on SNL?
Dudes been hitting some SlimFast or taking extra reps in the gym…. He appears to have lost quite a bit of weightage.

But the reviewer, like Jody Hill, wants it both ways and gives it a pretty weak B-. So which is it?
I am in nerd joke heaven in these comments.
HA!
Fascinating interview…
It's telling that an article about Michael Bay's "Island" gets 340+ comments within hours and this sucker is sitting at a lean 67.
Larry—
Nummy— perhaps I should've re-worded. You're right, Halliburton is something to regard these days, but its reference point of the Bush administration is akin to the Lewinsky "Blue Dress…" it just seemed a bit antiquated. But Halliburton is still around and doing plenty of evil.
Good question. What kind of weapons are allowed before the battle begins? A sharpened toothbrush is certainly not a rapid-firing war machine.
Much of the crits I read are that it *does* sort of play like a masculinized (that's not a word) soap opera at times. It's not HORRIBLE, but I'm happy that they actually funneled money into the project, as opposed to the 1993 sets and locations they've worn to nothing with shows like Law & Order.
What I didn't like: extreme over-usage of the closeup (especially in the pilot that I watched), pretty lame/cardboard-y characterization (the young blonde gentleman reminds me of Ryan Phillipe), weak allegories to 'real life things' that are past their expiration date of cultural significance (halliburton?! Really?)
Josh—
I won't miss it.
But I hope it inspires NBC to invest in stunning props and sets. I like the look of the show much more than the story.
marginal.
Oh. I thought I read somewhere that Mike was having money issues and sold them back? Hmmm
Zodiac Motherfucker should be pleased with this title.
etc. etc.
@poopdick
Speaking of which.
I'm assuming this doesn't bode well
for Beatles on iTunes anytime soon.
