Yeah, sad to say I'll be returning to DS9 in a few of weeks. We'll definitely be returning to Flying Circus eventually, though. (Mostly likely next summer, but who knows, I may need another break from Trek before then.)

I agree, and I should probably give the show a bit more benefit of the doubt—as it's been played out so far, the writers' intentions could be more complex than I'm assuming. But given the lack of complexity/tendency to take the most overblown path with every other running plotline…

I figured the kid was doomed after that cold open, but I spent the whole episode assuming Walt would kill him. In retrospect, I think this way makes more sense. To me, Walt is more compelling of a character if he's still clinging to a shred of his basic humanity; not that he's in any way a good guy, not to mitigate…
