I think there's a historical reason behind it. Japanese-Americans were discouraged to form a community during and after WW2, so their cultural backbone isn't as well established as Koreans or Chinese, hence the general lack of Japanese-American actors.

As a Japanese I do appreciate the recent surge in Asian actors, but can I just say the term "Asian" still feels like a blanket category to cover so many ethnicity. I mean, you don't usually mix British actors with US or French ones but when it comes to Asian it's just "Asian" whether you are from China or India.

Leonardo DiCaprio. The Wolf of Wall Street was a breath of fresh air after so many intense roles. He's a lot better if he's not taking things seriously, like Johnny Depp.
