This is my favorite book in the world. Part of the joy of it, however, is the satisfying escape of being able to picture (somehow) the impossible: animals that aren't animorphic, and yet don't do what animals naturally do. And yet, the story is the real draw.

I would think that - according to the Vikings - women would go to Valhalla, too, right? If it's about valor in battle, well: shield maidens.

I had hoped that when we pulled back and saw Floki and Helga by the shore, there would have been a little one running around…

Unfortunately, Bjorn didn't seem to care too much about Siggy, which was heartbreaking.

My take on Ragnar's challenge to his sons is that if Ragnar is to be king again, he can't simply walk into Kattegat and sit next to Aslaug. He needs to show some strength, and see if people are behind him. Nothing like challenging someone to kill you, without you fighting back: if they don't kill you, it makes you

Yeah, I think by NOT killing Erlunder right away, it was a bit of an insult. Not that Erlunder would have seen it as such. But it was like saying Erlunder is no kind of threat: it doesn't matter that he wants to kill me: I could kill him with my eyes closed.

No, I think she really believed what the Seer said was true, and I don't think she had tried to get pregnant anyway. And so, if the baby would have died even if she stayed home, it was like, why stay home? Being a shield maiden is her jam.

I feel like we also got foreshadowing of the child's death when she emerged from the wedding tent with Kalf's blood on her abdomen.

I wasn't sure why, when Torvi was told she had to leave her child behind, and Bjorn wanted to go, he didn't just scoop up the kid for Torvi. What was stopping him?

Okay, thanks! I never did play the game — though my friend, who speaks German, did proofread the German version for the company that issued it. :)

Who is Lilly?

Perhaps this has already been addressed, but wouldn't Chip have gone to jail for killing someone?

I thought they were, in fact, eradicated now.

Thanks! I had been thinking it was on purpose… though losing all that food would have been against Jesus's interests, as well.

Good catch! It was the opening scene, so it must signify something. Put the new belt hole with Eugene's comment about the food situation being scary… well, this was proof, I guess.

Did the Jesus character release the brake on the truck, causing it to fall in the lake? It looked like it.

No idea why they couldn't have taken both cars. That stuff, on this show, is maddening. There needs to be some dialogue explaining the reason, even if Rick says: "You see, if we leave one car behind, there is the greater chance of conflict to come. Think of the viewers, Daryl. The viewers!"

There was a scene where he was part of a group hunting zombies. But, I, too, wondered if he was still around. I believe he merely made a cameo to answer that question.

DEFINITELY after, for sure. Although the one person who could talk Carol out of a homicide would be Daryl.

I tried watching it on pbs dot org by way of Firefox, with that wonkiness. However, when I opened Opera (!) it was seemless.
