@olivececile:disqus  OMG, 19-year-old tastes in dudes  are the worst…

I love The Middle, especially because it manages to be hilarious about money problems without making the characters too cartoon-y or over the top.   The Heck family is actually relateable, unlike in Raising Hope or Shameless, other shows featuring struggling families..

I don't watch Honey Boo Boo (or any reality TV, really), but I really hate the way people talk about it.   The show may be making fun of the "ignorant rednecks", but I get the sense that the educated classes jump on the bandwagon to insult that family.   And some really nasty, awful stuff gets said.

I loved it when I was a kid, and watching it now makes me remember the happyfuntimes of being small.   I think that's all it is — just the positive side of nostalgia.

Gaaah, I'm so angry at how poorly they handled Sam's character.   Kid had an eating disorder and his family was struggling financially (wasn't he homeless at one point?) — these are great, important topics for teen shows to touch on.

Not to mention that Smash already had a built-in audience from the Broadway community (small but passionate) and plenty of them have abandoned it as well.

The show doesn't understand lesbians.  Again, I blame Ryan Murphy for everything.

@Snidely, That sounds expensive and I am broke at the moment, so if you're paying, then yes.

Is that available on the internet?  I'm too lazy to google but it sounds like the rare SNL sketch I'd actually want to see.

It's easy to make, and lots of nerdy sci-fi fans like to knit.  So if you want to cosplay, it takes less than a day to whip one up.

oh, whoops, didn't see that you just made the same point.

Live-action Disney shows are generally awful quality-wise, but I have to say they do a much better job of representing racial diversity and body size than most TV networks.

Do you maybe want to head over to a bar somewhere after work and drown our Glee-rage-sorrows in alcohol?

@Vervack:disqus  Me toooooo.

Fuck this noise.   I hate Ryan Murphy, and I hate to admit that I am an ex-Gleek.

Man, The Middle is so much better than Modern Family.   I hope it gets Top Pick soon.

@avclub-3be42d8a3412057f79af152555e39bd4:disqus  It's a really interesting phenomenon/opinion, IMHO.  But the Irish were never black in the US, not really.  They suffered an incredible amount of prejudice and persecution in WASP areas, but once they lost the accent/super distinctive names, they could assimilate into

Wow, I'd forgotten how much I loved Tiny Toons.  And I'm pretty sure 90% of the references went over my head, anyway…

Oh noooooo, you just made me really sad about Axl!  I hope he finds some sweet dumb bros in college!

@avclub-6dfdd63abbcb8863fba5ab0ab35d76f5:disqus   Definitely!  If I remember correctly, only one or two of them actually feature characters from the novel; the rest just explore other areas of the world she built — England and faery.
