Was that at home?  I actually assumed it was her office at school, and I was confused why the boys were eating cereal on her couch…

Yeah, I enjoy reading the Parks & Rec recaps, but that's mostly to giggle and gush over funny scenes.  There isn't much actual analysis going on.

I love love LOVED her acting in this episode.  You could see during her negotiations with the students that she was struggling not to smile because she was so proud of them.

To be fair, I don't think there's a simple way to package that birth control storyline clearly in 30 seconds.

what, you mean you don't get excited at the thought of

You're right, but at the same time, my local school for the Deaf also got an ad of theirs up, and it was of such poor quality (much more sincere than a used car dealer ad but just as bad camerawork and sound) that I didn't even notice the Gally one missing anything.

Also, did anyone else see ads for Gallaudet?  I cheered when they came on screen — excellent marketing, all around.

I got really teary watching this episode!    It's just so wonderful to see the issues of a minority demographic so deeply and sensitively explored.  I especially love Travis's character, which I never thought I'd say.  But even though I don't agree with his views about hearing people, I'm glad he's on my television

I'm late to the party here, but I love Spelling Bee.  Especially because of its simplicity of scale.  You don't need many actors or much of a set at all, which makes it really accessible.  You could put on a production of it for almost zero dollars.

It's really rebounded from a soapy mess and become a thoughtful show.  I don't think there's anything else like it on TV.

Thanks for pointing that out, @avclub-2699a553580f039ce51cb742ed676ad2:disqus .   It seems like a pedantic criticism to most hearing people, but the "D" symbolizes something very powerful about Deaf identity.  Someone who is "deaf" cannot hear.  Someone who is "Deaf" is a member of the tiny and often misunderstood

I didn't get a Bunheads notification for this.  :(

Liked for making me laugh at the phrase "renowned Paradise hardcore scene".   I don't like Roman much either, but I'm not sure he's a douchebag.

I'd love that.  Especially because plenty of the non-Broadway references go over my head.   It'd be a way to fill this hole in my heart…

Good point.

Boo likes Katniss and Channing Tatum and the nerdy dude right in front of her. It's not inconceivable that she'd be a Twilight fan, but I do think it's unlikely.

@avclub-fdd08c99916b5c8cbf1d1dd364ab229c:disqus , great callback!   I forgot about that proto-Hulk behavior.

I am sure the magnitude of vitriol in disagreeing with the Community reviewer was much, much higher, though.

I am amazed at how far this show has come from its soapy premise.  I keep catching parts of it as my younger sister watches and being sucked in.

Seth's performance is even funnier if you know that he's routinely an audition pianist in real life and that he played in the Les Miz pit orchestra on Broadway for almost 15 years.
