"I met a man named Flint in New York. Because of gaps in the health care system, he was reduced to committing sand-based robberies just to pay for his daughter's medicine."
His soul IS an appalling dump heap overflowing with the most disgraceful assortment of deplorable rubbish imaginable, mangled up in tangled up knots.
Isn't that pitch the one that includes a Gritty Origin Story for Slimer? SLIMER?
That's not how budgets work though. The Secret Service wasn't going to fire all those agents and pass the savings on at the end of the year if Bernie had only stopped running. They'd just have found other ways to spend what they'd been allocated.

I listen to most of my podcasts at work and I figure a handful of mp3s at a time are less obnoxious than installing and running a notorious resource hog on a computer/network that's not really mine. I do use iTunes on my home computer to organize my podcast archives and keep track of which ones have updated. I keep a…
It, like every Edgar Wright movie, benefits greatly from rewatching. My opinions of it and Scott Pilgrim have jumped by at least a letter grade since initial viewing.

Yeah, Winter Soldier's a great movie but I don't think anybody sings "Star-spangled Man with a Plan" in it even once.
DEWEY DEFEATS BATMAN
People weren't just aware of OJ; they ROOTED for him for years. And not just for characters he was playing in movies, but for "OJ Simpson." And as LaMar mentions above, there's a Hometown Hero aspect that doesn't translate if he'd been a comedian or newscaster or something. He was FROM the area, using his talents to…
That is part of it, but the implied reason they don't know anything about the details is that sports are all silly and not worth knowing about. It's both self-deprecating and condescending, but the condescension is basically the only part that comes through to everyone else.
They certainly slowed to one.
She was looking kind of dumb with her finger and her thumb grasping futilely at the invisible hand of the Force crushing her windpipe.
"A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…
Yeah, if they're going to be hitting us with a Star Wars movie every dang year, they should make some effort to set the Episodes apart as still being special. This seems like a fine visual shorthand.
