Which series of Digimon is piling up on your DVR?

Yeah, the tattoo episode is easily the worst until the one in season 3 that will focus on those two random inconsequential characters at the camp that they introduced out of nowhere near the start of the season for no good reason whose names I don't remember anymore.

Doesn't Mel Gibson failing to devolve into a ranting, sexist, anti-Semitic, homophobic piece of shit at the end of Signs count as a twist ending?

As cool as adorable stuffed dragons are, I imagine that doesn't quite make up for losing one's job, so I'm sorry to hear about that.  Good luck with the job search!

I got back around to reading Infinite Jest this weekend, which continues to get more and more bizarre.  I'm at the bit where Mario's puppet show film is telling the story of the Gentle administration.  DFW pretty much predicted Netflix, didn't he?  And as far as random little details go, I love the way that when

Yeah, but I get the feeling that Yorke is doing this to make a stand because he's in an economic position where he can do so.

Yeah, PTI kind of sucks.  They pretty much just yell for an hour or however long the show runs about random shit that they don't understand.  And pretty much every time they bring up hockey it's for Wilbon to make some bullshit argument about how supposedly out of control the violence and fighting are, despite the

In the original, I liked the way that, whenever a new character was introduced, they would exist in a story that seemed entirely separate from the main action for a time, until they were slowly woven into the central plot.  I think that this version can, and hope it will, manage to do the same, but yeah, the show

I did not know that about the unifying nature of Hegelian dialectics, but yeah, I hope they manage to pull that off as well.  Because if they depict relationships in the light of legitimate Hegelian dialectics, then what you and others say above about the oversimplification of the dichotomy between El Paso and Juarez

I'm not from El Paso, and thus kind of have to take your's and st. yooper's word on the oversimplified El Paso-Juarez dichotomy, but where you say it's too firmly rooted in the original I agree; it makes the wrong choices sometimes about where it should and shouldn't deviate from the original.  Like the fact that in

This was easily the weakest episode thus far.  I like the points that Molly Eichel makes in the review about the dichotomy between all the different characters, settings, etc, but, as has been pointed out by other members of the commentariat above, it feels like in this episode they were creating starkly contrasted

AtDI is from El Paso.  I never realized that Invalid Litter Dept. was about the Juarez murders.  Honestly, apart from "Embroglio," I never realized that any AtDI song lyrics could be decoded.

It's alright, but the original's theme song (while it would be completely out of place in this version) was incredible, and makes The Bridge's intro pale by comparison.  http://www.youtube.com/watc…  The outro credits are equally awesome, but I couldn't find a video of just the intro/outro.

Yeah, I feel like this was the first truly clumsy thing that the show has tried to do thus far.  What's weird is that while this development roughly mirrors the actions of the analogous characters on the Scandinavian original, I'm pretty sure they had Marco's marital indiscretion start earlier on The Bridge whereas

@avclub-d4c5630db0ec3444ec43c0982a9e83d3:disqus Holy shit, this is simultaneously awesome and daunting.  I am looking forward to using this as the foundation of my own list. Thanks a lot!

Yeah, because PK Subban, Jarome Iginla, Wayne Simmonds, Evander Kane, Seth Jones, Darnell Nurse, Chris Stewart, Anthony Stewart, Kevin Weekes, the above-mentioned Ray Emery and Johnny Oduya, and all the other past and present black NHL players whose names I can't think of off the top of my head are totally just white

Bo Jackson in the NHL would have actually been pretty fucking awesome.

You'd have to read the questionable way that Lewis treats sexuality in The Last Battle, and know some super-spoilery plot points from that book to get it, I suppose.

@avclub-94e005c18b383d12a8924d5d1367610d:disqus Oh yeah, definitely.  I definitely complained about similar stuff at that age I'm sure.  I just remember when I was like eight years old, the one time my parents actually made home-made bread, I thought it was amazing, and white bread always felt a little underwhelming

Yes, yes they did.  I also feel like a fucking idiot for not realizing that Gaiman was talking about crepes and only referred to them as really thin pancakes because the story was being told by a seven-year-old who probably didn't know what crepes are at the time.
