I would suggest watching them chronologically, just to experience how his technique has evolved. While he has been derided for "filming grass", he truly is an auteur - his films are always visually sumptuous. Every frame of Tree of Life is a single beautiful image. Do I always like his movies? No, but I find them all

I used to watch Dark Shadows every afternoon….had to sprint home from school to catch it in time. After DS was over, I would watch Graham Kerr get slightly plowed as he cooked. Then Truth or Consequences. Yes, I'm old.
