I read the first issue of Starve, which is pretty good. It's hard to pass judgment on a first issue these days, but its "post-apocalyptic cooking show" thing is handled well enough that I'm definitely in for the second one.

I have trouble with Youtube videos where I am. Is that the one where he climbs a speaker in Europe and threatens to jump until the chanting crowd talks him down? Because it's been reported extensively by a couple of witnesses, and presumably there's another whole roomful of them out there.

Like most parts of the conspiracy theory, that one aspect of it isn't hypothetically impossible, but everyone who's supposedly in on it is a known quantity who's been asked about it and examined by thousands of amateur and semi-pro sleuths over the years, Love most of all. And she's a substance abuser severely

That's a product of the internet age, though. The fact that everyone can get angry at everything has pretty much made all outrage equal. Everything's a travesty, so nothing is. I agree that, in general, this is not a good thing.

I had "What is Martin Chuzzlewit?" So probably still not good enough.

""I value confidentiality and paradoxically I don't care who knows it."

"Hoover Hovels" is the clear correct answer, Depressionites!

If they could run against each other in a vacuum, I would tend to agree, but Hillary isn't as innately likable as Bill, and combined with the "new" guy advantage, I think it could likely still go to Bush.

You know, I'd love to be wrong here, and I'd hate discourage people from trying to get out the vote, but I'm neither the first person nor is this the first time this pattern has been pointed out. It seems like there are always reasons why "this year will be different," and the truth is just that it rarely is.

Statistically, it's almost certainly going to be a Republican. Of the last ten elections where it was a Democrat v. a Republican and neither had an incumbency advantage, the guy from a different party than the current president has won, except in '88. H. W. Bush is the sole exception in the last 85 years, and he got

I was a huge fan, but this is one of the more basic philosophical issues with the show. Scully is presented as the rational half of the equation, but she has almost no sense of pattern-recognition, which is absolutely essential to a scientist. Contrary to the sort of Straw Vulcan portrayal that Scully gets close to

Agreed. Half the fun of Stormwatch/Authority after Ellis kickstarted them was the way they would change their whole planet just by existing, and their morality was a lot less 1960s perfect than most superheroes.

This is going to blow everyone's mind, I'm sure, but the Bible isn't very internally consistent. Yeah, there's a bunch of "sit down and be quiet, ladies" but god's also occasionally asking them to put tent stakes through a dude's head.

Yeah, but I think that goes the other way, too. The whole not-raping thing is considered an indication of moral rectitude and not just a rock-bottom requirement for not being awful.

There were numerous prisons break. In tribute to the show, I've added the kind of ridiculous plural that indicates straining for depth and failing, and also I have nowhere else to go with this joke, much like the last three seasons of the four-season series
.

The political media is killing time between now and eight months from now, when anything of any goddam consequence has a chance of happening. If a Republican grapefruit threw its hat into the ring, it would generate 128 thinkpieces on its chances and a roundtable discussion on at least four cable networks…

It's against federal law, which is usually meaningless but potentially less so for on duty police staffers.

Inviting her to sit in on questioning and hang out at the precinct is not a great move then. It's stupid in a different way, but not really better. A quick "You can't come to the station while high, for fuck's sake, go home" would've done wonders.

Right. It doesn't paint him in a GREAT light, but I can accept a certain cynical pragmatism behind not pressing a woman who keeps his numbers up. And if we put aside our own genre awareness, there's really no other good explanation for Liv's abilities. There's no plausible way she could have been personally

That's possibly the finest two hour block of comedy that's ever been regularly scheduled for television, even accounting for the fact that those weren't The Office's best years.
