Oh, me not saying that happening now with network TV, @drdarke:disqus . Even 24 may have been pro-torture, but it also have first black president making argument against going to war on faulty evidence, just weeks before we invade Iraq. It hit both sides of spectrum.

@Gorfious:disqus , me can field that one. It seem to me that women have much broader range of sex-enjoyment than men, for reasons both physical and psychological. Some women orgasm easily, some with great difficulty, and that affect enjoyment of (and enthusiasm for) sex tremendously. Plus society attach far more

Me doubt it, @drdarke:disqus . If Rupert Murdoch willing to lose money on New York Post just to push conservative agenda (and because he like owning newspapers), me sure there someone willing to buy NBC on the cheap to run Everybody Love Raymond and Know Obama Is Kenyan Socialist Who Hate America every Tuesday night.

In other words, TV becomes AM Radio.

That very good point. It also worth mentioning that internet has supplanted TV's role as mother/teacher/secret lover, which is all for best. Kids who grew up in 1980s spent hours of time watching shitty Hanna Barbera cartoons and brainless sitcoms. Me have two kids who use that time to build stuff in Minecraft and

This is fantastic metaphor.

@avclub-871a6f53ba8bda0e260763ab2cf3b1c8:disqus , me was thinking of season model, not episode-by-episode, but maybe me not express that clearly. For me, you not need endless cliffhanger, you just need one or two "Shut Up and Take My Money" moments. Me watched season 2 premiere of 24 years ago, and moment Jack Bauer

Variety show could work if done right. Has anyone seen Later with Jools Holland on BBC? Holland is former member of Squeeze, and he host show that just lots of bands in big round auditorium. Set has maybe 6 stages, with audience seating in between, and camera whirls around from one to next. Bands take turns playing.

Todd explain this pretty well. If network TV goes down, cable goes down with it, because cable relies on cheap reruns from network TV.

Me happy to hear this event take place. But more than that, article was beautifully well-written eulogy to man himself on site that has already given us a few. Well done, Nabin.

Me have one for you. Premiere of original Die Hard closer to moon landing than to present day.

@avclub-1d5f36370c7ddcd55c96c2fb6bd11ead:disqus , it seem like Weiner just sticking with theme of Sopranos, that people not change and people not learn from mistakes. Count von Count always going to count things, Don Draper always going to screw around, and me always going to be filled with deep and abiding love

Holly Hunter colony does add bit of weirdness to show. But that work for me - it keep show from getting too bleak, and push it little bit towards Twin Peaks territory.

Me rarely thankful to have Kabletown as provider, but they have pretty much every current show on demand now.

Me not know where else to put this, so me will treat this as open thread. If anyone not watching Top of Lake, start now. Elizabeth Moss just killing it in that show. So much great acting all around, but she carries show.

@avclub-dd5321bef3221ce6653c54293a545c71:disqus , me actually thought opposite. Last season end with Megan leaning on Don to help her get success, and he lose all respect for her.

Difference this time is that Megan much sharper and more confident than Betty. Second marriage going to blow up much faster and more violently than first one, so having that hanging over us add lot of tension to season.

Boardwalk Empire have out of place rock intro; it just becoming HBO's new thing in case everyone bored with incest.

Me used to do that. If you can do both things, you can do both things at same time.

Maybe it series finale of some sitcom about AV Club we all just incredibly minor characters in.
