Nobody cares, Diabeetus.

Meyers is arguably too pretty for Steerpike… but I guess they were thinking of Steerpike's seductive qualities (espec. for Fuschia and the Twins)when they cast him. And it's not as crazy as casting Meyer as Henry VIII.

Mervyn Peake
Apparently he left behind notes for a fourth Gormenghast novel. Would love to read that. Hell, I'd be happy to read the notes.

Pan's Labyrinth weak on story? I don't get that at all. Classic storytelling, in my opinion. He's obviously read a lot of fairytales/folktales, and he gets the rhythms just right. And have you seen The Devil's Backbone? Same thing. Classic ghost story. Gorgeous to look at, suspenseful as a motherfucker, and pretty

@Miller
Can Benicio Del Toro play Gibby Haynes?

Ditto on Z-Man's party. And the party from The Party.

Probably no half-measures here, yeah. Phipps had to make the call. It's a bummer.

I work as a fact-checker for a broadsheet. I also review CDs for a bunch of local papers. So I'm keenly aware of the journalistic code-of-ethics, and I know about deadlines.

Bitches Brew
Great soundtrack for shagging.

Harrowing, unblinking, and emotionally authentic sex
with Michelle Williams? No problem!

"A hobbit with Downs and dropsy. " That's cold. I'm guessing more than a few of the AV Club commentators are on the homely side. Would you say that to his face? "Hellboy 2 rocked, and by the way, has anyone ever told you look like a hobbit with Downs and dropsy?" Fuck! Save that shit for Harry Knowles - he's a fat

Ditto. Icebound un-nameable shit is what it's all about.

Butthole Surfers
Amazing live, last time I checked (some time in the mid-90s).

I watched about a third of Cash Back… very pretty, bit airless. It seemed to be a pretty flagrant copy (both in content and tone) of The Fermata, abook by Nicholson Baker. Guy discovers he can slow down time, decides to undress hot women.

Shit, I just realised this new movie is by the director of Beau Travail… that film is just awesome. She can say what she likes about Doris Lessing.

I dig her brittle charms
But she's gonna have to leave Doris Lessing out of this

At Last I Am Free
His version on "Nothing Can Stop Us" is one of my all-time favourite recordings. And his drumming with Soft Machine - just brilliant.

Thanks for the interview
He's a fantastic songwriter, and seems like a really decent human being as well. "Appetite" is one of those tunes I can't get out of my head, decades after first hearing it.

Seven Deadly Finns
Something about daisy chains and pearl necklaces, and yes I know a lot about Brian Eno's early work

Those who know
They don't let it show
