That is awesome.  How and why did that happen?

Perhaps a little less kidnappy-cum-rapey, but just as heartwarming, notwithstanding.

Second.

Ennio Morricone - "Padre Ramirez (Father Ramirez)"

Yeah, I know how that goes.  Hope you feel better.

I had hoped Todd would mention Wiseguy.  The first two storylines (Sonny Steelgrave and Mel Profitt) are exceptional works of serialized drama.  I more or less lost interest after those two, but still, credit where credit is due.

I'd throw James Joyce in that list, as well.  His books are funny as hell, especially if you enjoy puns and wordplay.  Big fat sections of Finnegans Wake are dedicated to long, long strands of polyglottic punning.

We call that the old "box canyon cutoff."  Nothing to do but walk right into that trap.

Here's a few of my personal favorites that I would certainly recommend:

Dennis Wilson - Pacific Ocean Blue is a fucking masterpiece.

The Band - "White Cadillac (Ode to Ronnie Hawkins)"
The Who - "Behind Blue Eyes"
Nirvana - "About a Girl" (from MTV Unplugged in New York)
Chuck Berry - "Sweet Little Rock & Roller"
AC/DC - "Anything Goes"

A guy at Whole Foods told me I look like Bill Hicks.  I don't know how to feel about that.

@avclub-7f87bb91e1944c0485c54044a3d85c44:disqus …Howard Hughes?

Matthew Sweet's pretty awesome.

Yeah, that's the stuff.  Good and generic.

"How do you sleep at night?"

The Beatles - "When I Get Home"

I want your wig.  Now!

Ween - "The HIV Song"
Pink Floyd - "Mother (from The Wall Live 1980-1981)"
Castle Logic - "Mischievous Boy"
Scapegoat Wax - "Freeway"
The Hold Steady - "First Night"
