Thank you for pointing me to this. Hilarious.
"tries way too hard to be avant garde" —- Yes! Listened to him yesterday on a recent installment of Chris Hardwick's Nerdist podcast. I thought he was very funny and clever and interesting…but also at times seemed to be trying too hard — and I think you nailed it.

Gosh, I'd be hard-pressed to name a favorite song of all time. But "Hungry Like The Wolf" would probably be far up there…and if I was looking at Queen, I'd have to give the nod to "Bohemian Rhapsody"…it's just that good. It's so overdone and permeates pop culture yet I still will listen to it any time I hear it.
What I remember from 9th grade… that song paired well with another one-hit wonder of the same time period, Sly Fox's "Let's Go All The Way."
Foo Fighters - "Arlandria" — Technically named after the area where Arlington and Alexandria meet and where Dave Grohl grew up. That song is such a favorite FF deep track for me.
Moot The Hoope - "All The Way to Memphis"
And the playlist for this morning's humid run was Dance Rock:
"Tornado of Souls" is one of my favorite Megadeths.
Love the bonus one-hit wonder from the 80s. :D
"Drive" is probably my favorite REM song. I'm not a huge fan of the band but that song just clicked with me. So haunting.
ST!
I'm stuck in a state - Arkansas - that recently flipped bright red (all state-wide elected officials, congressional delegation and super majority of state legislature are now GOP) and thanks to their redistricting (and the blind conservative Christian adherence to the modern GOP dogma of God, guns and gays…as in…
Those were the days. When the operative word for TV was jiggle.
@Dikachu:disqus and @avclub-1e1692bf525d88abf663ece93fe486c8:disqus — You guys are right on target with my argument to anyone who'll listen to me argue politics these days. We're seeing the results of the long con by the cons…GOP who finally found the path thanks to the Southern Strategy and building their own media…
Yes, this also happened to my wife back in 2000 when she and her ex were flying to DC for the inauguration of W (in her former life she was semi-Republican, before she came to her senses). Carter was also on the flight and shook everyone's hand. She was charmed by the gesture as well.
Yes! I remember a brief time when I was really invested in the annual "Battle."
That's right! I had forgotten. That movie is an unexpected surprise since it was so unlike the original. "Lilting" - I like that description.
When I think of her, I always think of her voice, which to me always seemed to give her characters a note of vulnerability or sincerity. She was perfect in "Mr. Holland's Opus" and "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels." I also enjoyed her multi-episode turn on "ER" back when it was at its peak. RIP
Up the Irons!
