I don't know why people are surprised by things like liking Parks & Rec because of Ron Swanson or liking Stephen Colbert because you agree with the "character" Stephen Colbert. Reams and reams were already written about this decades ago with the massive Archie Bunker fanbase for All in the Family. It recurred with all

Another swing-state voter here who'd love to trade an Obama vote for a Stein vote with someone in a blue state.

Yeah, who knows how metaphysics actually works in a universe that's such a hodgepodge of nonsense (including having actual Lords of Order and Chaos who don't seem to be friends with any of the other people you might peg as being on their side — Shivering Jemmy and Loki don't appear to hang out or get along, for

It's not clear whether you actually missed the joke here or just refused to acknowledge it.

Another interesting detail: the original Element Girl character was, like most superheroines, classically svelte and sexy-looking.

Dr. Light's revamping in Identity Crisis needs to be first in some Inventory of "Edgy character reinventions that seemed groundbreaking and courageous at the time but in hindsight turned out to just be terrible and offensive".

The thing I loved about that is that obviously Jemmy and Kilderkin are equals and opposites and pose the exact same level of threat, and yet Jemmy is deliberately designed to fill the adorable-creepy-child archetype is closely as possible while Kilderkin's whole cardboard box shtick is meant to make him ridiculously

Of course the nightmare scenario of the cats retaking reality is scarier if it's implied that we deserve it. Every horror movie trades at least to an extent on the idea that the horrific punishment comes in return for hubris.

@UWIR:disqus To hell with states' rights and to hell with the Second Amendment (and certain other facets of that antiquated document, but especially and emphatically that one).

The funny thing being when A Study in Scarlet came out it wasn't really controversial because everyone was scared of the Mormons — the Mountain Meadows massacre had just happened and the Mormons were basically the Islamist fundamentalist terrorists of their era.

There is a large contingent of humans who were horrified by the kitten-drowning and are horrified by such things happening in real life and expend a ridiculous amount of time and money trying to prevent such things from happening. (My wife works at a cat rescue, okay?)
