This episode really really made me want to create a similar trivia round about me and my friends, and I remember the depressing realization that coming up with questions like these about us in real life was more or less impossible because we weren't that interesting (or if we were it wasn't anything that all of us had…

The main problem was that showing any of the minutes in which Ross was an effective parent would've helped counterbalance the other 21 minutes devoted to him being a spastic moron who is apparently unable to function and also weirdly abrasive toward the other Friends till you wonder why they hang out with him.

The other part of this is of course that, especially before the other characters get careers that take off, Chandler's "boring" and "soul-crushing" job is vital to financing a lot of the hijinks the gang gets roped into. Indeed, I think they outright state once or twice that Chandler is basically paying Joey's rent…

Meh. You can make an argument for doing it either way, but it's true that as a pattern US English tends to use singular verbs with collective nouns while UK English often goes back and forth.

Here I really seriously no kidding thought the post-9/11 anthem was actually "Sorrow" by Bad Religion, which is in every way a better choice.

That's exactly why I didn't like the song — it felt hollow and cheap, like adults telling you to chin up because high school "will be over soon", when really any four years of your life are just as long as any other four years and I honestly think the idea that the future being better than the present will somehow…

The same reason we refer to the UK or Greenpeace or the Catholic Church as singular entities even though they're composed of multiple individual human beings.

I liked a lot of stupid music in the '90s and I still always hated this song.
