Yes, there is more… visceral appeal in having the head as an immediately recognizable artifact of your vanquished enemy.
@avclub-fd172dda9796767557675385e915cab4:disqus But if we eliminate the hairstyles, we lose this:
Sheridan: "I've been having nightmares that would make your hair stand on end."
I found sfdebris through this site, and its clear-eyed take on the cheese of the Star Trek franchise was a much-needed antidote to the reverence of the reviews here.
Okay, this is a year later (because I just saw Moonrise Kingdom) and I can't make sense of your account picture, but I just want to tell you that I love your user name with the fire of a thousand exploding suns. If I didn't want to go through the trouble of re-establishing a board persona, I would immediately create…

Well, I ain't sayin' how I know, but I know what I know, y'know? :)
Well-stated—I think there's an anti-authority, anti-spirituality, cynical bias in these parts that gets overly allergic to the necessary use of legitimate power by people who are making good choices.
Irene Cara was Coco in the movie version that the series was based on. She had some great hits, but I think Erica was maybe an even better singer and I found her more attractive too.
Can't agree that Franklin's walkabout is a magic cure. It's not a brief ceremony, it's a process, one that takes weeks or more within the timeline of the show. Of course it wouldn't be an appropriate cure for drug addiction per se, but Franklin has already done some hard thinking and done for himself what addicts…
Late to the party, wife made me watch this from the Redbox. I was even more disappointed when it wasn't the Morgan Freeman movie about a woman who moves to a small town to heal a broken heart.
Hmmm. A few weeks ago it was Severed Dreams being rewritten with 60 Earth ships and 600 Minbari. There was nothing wrong with the episode as written from this perspective. Earth has been depicted as a second-rate interstellar power, especially with resources stretched thin by trying to recover from near annihilation a…
Yes yes yes to all of this. Rowan mentions the Clockwork Universe problem, but to me that smacks too much of a critical theory overshadowing the material itself. I mean, so what if it's a clockwork universe? First off, all fictional worlds are manufactured to tell a particular story in a particular way. Secondly,…
I always had the impression that B4's value was strategic, not tactical (i.e. as a resource, not for its combat strength). It was a base of operations that the Shadows were not expecting to appear. They wouldn't necessarily know where it was, and it could move to further that ambiguity. It gave the scattered remnants…
I absolutely loved the sinister strangeness of the first Drakh appearance, and found the later incarnation pitifully ordinary by comparison. Reading from JMS that the first iteration was a kludge and the second intentional was a real disappointment, as I assumed from the disappearance of the cool factor that mk. 2 was…
I think this kinda ties back to Rowan's comment in last week's thread about the odd flavor of "love the show, but the man who made it was a doofus" that comes through in the comments sometimes. We can't forget that the guy who wrote Sheridan wrote Garibaldi too. He put those misgivings in Garibaldi's mouth, and I'm…
@APNDaveR:disqus Excuse me? In what universe, real or fictional, were the Americans the "manipulative jerks" in the Cold War? Has the teaching of history, or comprehension of same, really become so hopelessly bankrupt and obtuse?
Friend nothing, Londo is a surrogate father to Vir, and he flat out loves him.
In my experience, a giggly attitude can make sex a lot more fun. But your mileage may vary.
Agreed. Space combat is a blend of aerial and naval combat. If modern naval ships had the tracking and beam weapon technology to hit fighters with their big guns, the sturdiest warplanes would vaporize from a single hit. Pretty close to that with your average AA shell, too.
