Sorry I could've put that better; I simply meant that it was entirely possible for Andy to say "eggs was going to kill me but jason saved my life." I used the term self-defense-killing in the sense that nobody would prosecute any of the killers under those circumstances.

MANOS: Hands of Fate
That sacrifice had a real MANOS feel to it.

Did anyone else find the salesman's response "Talk to your government" surprisingly witty and insightful for a show with writing this bad? e.g. a talkbacker pointed out last week's incredibly lame response by drama in this exchange:

Oh great point about Tara. They gave her TWO scenes of her as Nancy Drew: "hmmmmm, i too am confused about my lack of memory. i wonder if it has something to do with the complete and total creepshow i've let into my life and house. oh, andy get the heck out of here! i have to enjoy the 10 seconds of screen time

Crazy Talk!
The Andy plotline is so terribly done.

Disagree Completely
I feel bad for saying this, lest alone I offend the AV Club writers on whom I have pinned the entire hopes of my internet use, but this is just trying to hard. TVDW, I love your "Deadwood" write-ups, which approach scholarship, but I have to say this review sounds like you're building your clips.

What does Steve give William?
I didn't notice this in the piece, and sorry if someone has commented on it already. But this has always driven me nuts: what does Steve give William shortly before the accident? I don't think it even comes up in the later episodes, but originally seeing this way back on the original

Not to mention that tossing off this stuff as "theatrical exposition" misses the a fairly nice subtext: the episode is called "Childish Things" and involves people doing something very childish-relationships with imaginary people. Bill's grave, the Indian in the box, loyalty to a brother Mose just murdered.

i would like to volunteer to write it up for free. its ridiculous not to have a post for a show that gets 100+ comments.

Somewhere in the text of "Goblet of Fire" it is said that all Portkeys must be registered (and if I remember correctly, that just making one on your own alerts the Ministry). That's why everyone is using the same shoe to get to the Q Cup. Presumably the Tri Wizard Trophy was so important all the magic around it he

Wolcott's Finest
Wolcott is so great in all his "Something Very Expensive" scenes.

The letter
The "Dear Mrs. Bullock" letter voiceover, combined with the dreamy sunset walk down the thoroughfare, is still the most beautiful thing I have ever seen on tv.

I would prefer the analysis. Episode recaps are needed to brush the outlines, but we could just read the HBO.com play-by-play if we need details on what went down.

I Can't Wait For This To Come Back
I only watch this show for the vicious write-ups here at the AV Club.

I think thats the proper way to look at it (and obviously coming from Milch it means a lot).

Yeah, no offense but Al certainly didn't "know" the gold was there. I think it's pretty obvious that this was a conned sale.

BETTER HOME APPLIANCES
Keith, it has been probably about 10 years since I thought about that. I can't say i'm particularly happy to be revisiting.

American Dad Has Won Me Over
Because of this write-up's constant references to AD being the best show of the night, I finally started watching it. While I agree with what's above, it has never reached the highs of some of The Simpsons best shows, it certainly has become much more enjoyable than the other shows.

I must agree. Despite a relatively weak Simpsons outing, there was still a lot for people who turn to this site for a quality in-depth review. The last few weeks I've wanted a lot more discussion.

Yes. Isn't that commonly how the show does it?
