RIP Richard Matheson

One of my favorites of his short stories is The Distributor, a story about a man who destroys a neighborhood community…simply because he can.  Playboy magazine first published it in the late 1950's and at the time was one of their most controversial pieces of fiction.

Regarding other feminist characters, there were also Mary's trailblazing aunt and her liberal female Congressman, who made occasional appearances on the show.

Was "The Lars Affair" an episode with one of Mary's infamous bad parties?  I feel like one of those episodes should be on the list.  I think there used to be one a season.

Sean O'Neal's a snarky prick.  You're just finding this out now?

And he made an appearance on "Square Pegs"!

What about Brandon De Wilde in the controversial, banned episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents, "The Sorcerer's Apprentice"?

Yep.  I was going to mention this but you beat me by a good 30 minutes.

And best of all, no helicopters or Vietnamese children in the story.

I really like that episode too.  It's almost like a one-act comedic Mamet play.

I don't remember the dialogue exactly but the discussion about Ingmar Bergman/Ingrid Bergman is also great.

I hate to be a Cheers know-it-all but the first episode with the Gary's rivalry was season 4's From Beer to Eternity.

But then you wouldn't be able to appreciate Full House Reviewed.

Just be happy you didn't ask what happened to the girl who played Stephanie.

Don't forget about his role as Elliot Gould's cat in The Long Goodbye!

I'm really hoping that later this week we get columns on Dan Ackroyd and Tom Hanks's "Dragnet Rap" and Mel Brooks's "Hitler Rap".

Pasolini cast his own mother as Mary in "The Gospel According to St. Matthew".  I think that takes the cake when it comes to hubris.

RIP Richard

"Get a job?  Was my father serious?" (I can't remember the rest.)

So this is the guy who wrote that 50 Cent movie?

I haven't seen ZDT but I am still bothered by the fact that Tobias insists that Glenn Greenwald reviewed the film before seeing it, which is simply not true.
