I don't know, it's hard for me to articulate, but Lizzy Grant is so invested in the image and the appearance, the aesthetic side of things that that becomes the driving force of the music. The music is always structured to drive home an intensely genuine (insofar as the character Lana believes in her own message)…
I also found "Palace" underwhelming. After listening to the preview on NPR several times, the whole album is pretty hit or miss with me… Still gonna buy it, but I disagree with the reviewer and don't think this is on par with their last three releases (counting the stellar Undersea), cohesion-wise.

It just seems like Walt has been so, so careful with everything else, I just don't buy it. Not even with Jesse being on the other end of the line. And for him not to consider that Jesse would turn, even after everything he's done to Jesse, is silly.
It seriously felt like an easy way out with the crew showing up anyway (did anyone not see that coming from a mile away?), I was so pissed when there were 5 minutes left to go and I knew the crew would show anyway, guns blazing.
