D'oh!
D'oh!
I am glad Chris J got a good dish in. In the annals of molecular gastronomers, we have now had:
Molecular Gastronomer Mk. 1 (The "Marcel") - thinks molecular gastronomy is cool, but can't put together consistently good tasting dishes that also employ molecular gastronomy and is completely clueless about it.
M.G. Mk.…
Yeah, Rogers Aching Ticker, I see your point.
1) Charlize and Padma together in a room is something. I would have paid $5 to hear one of them respond to the seven dwarves joke with "Look around, Tom. You're all dwarves to us, Collichio. Tiny men, dancing and capering for our amusement."
2) Speaking of which, Padma does the best "wicked Queen" I've ever…
Cartoon Chris Griffin: whaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT????????
It shows a touching optimism about AV Club readers that the editor felt that we needed first names to identify [Robert] Heinlein and [Ray] Bradbury.
I'm pretty sure that anyone who didn't know who Taylor was talking about from reading the authors' last names wouldn't be enlighted by the first names. ("Oh, she was…
I need to get on Netflix and watch Karen Sisko, stat.
At the risk of being narcissistic, I don't think the question has run if I'm still asking it.
At the end of Season 1, I had the impression that Raylan was basically on his last chance with Art and the Miami guy. I have to watch the last two eps of Season Two again, but my recollection was that Raylan ran massively…
Quick thought: Now that we have Carla Gugino, Is there any chance of getting Michael Keaton to do a run on Justified? I've always liked Ray Nicolette, and it would be the best casting coup in the history of genre television.
1) I actually felt like this episode spun its wheels a little. There were lots of great beats and character moments, but it felt more like they were setting up plotlines for the season than actually writing an individual episode with its own plot.
2) At this point, I'm actually surprised that Raylan is still a…
I liked "The Man Who Played Quinn" in TiMER.
Rewatching Season Two, I'm impressed with the time they're taking to develop Wesley. Each episode, he gets in one more punch in on the bad guys/falls down one fewer time/scores with a babe/ or otherwise shows one small step towards bad-ass-itude.
Like Kirk, Bev beat the Kobayashi Maru by not accepting the rules, which is what you have to do.
1) As Winged Hussar said, if this came on the heels of the up-all-night BBQ challenge, then half-bushel's biggest advantage was a night's sleep.
2) Half-Bushel seems like a double entendre to me, but I can't quite find a role for the "Half" to play. Anyone?
3) Lindsay's plan - to have someone else prepare and serve…
Well, sure, Quagmire is one of the only people who has ever been nice to Meg while sober. But he has also self-pleasured while spying on her slumber parties and stuck his toes in her mouth while she slept, so he's more of a complex, well-rounded character. Does Quagmire contradict himself? Very well, he…
Word. Stan has learned (and forgotten) to appreciate Francine about a thousand times, but every so often it still reaches an emotional level. I'd say Rapture's Delight and the one with the cyborg for starters.
1) I like the recurring bit where Peter and Lois do their understated conversation. (Like War Games, here). At least, I like it better than the bit where Peter talks like a three year old or the bit where Stewie has a long breathless "that novel you've been working on" uptalking run-on).
2) I didn't watch the whole…
I know this is a pop culture site, but Econtalk and Hardcore History are both great podcasts too.
WTF often gets good interviews out of the guests, but I always find myself wishing there was less Marc Maron and more guest. I'm usually interested in everything EXCEPT (1) who the guest and Maron both knew at the Comedy Store, (2) what Maron thought of the guest's comedy back in the 80s, and (3) what Maron thinks…
When Sarah explained her work to Simon during the home visit, I thought she was doing some kind of comment or joke about the show itself and the other artists. ("Look! People writing on stuff! A big vagina mattress! Another version of that one sculpture I did! Fiddly little drawings about death! People's…
