Stupid contrarian opinion. Originality is overrated by elitists. The BeeGees wrote some of the best hooks and melodies in all of pop music. That's a much better thing to be remembered for than being a tiny-scale innovator in a dead genre.

I feel the opposite—I feel like almost every newswire tries for maximum snark nowdays but it's hard to pull off well and grows wearying. Some items deserve it. Others don't.

I think Blevins posts a lot of the worst GJIs, but credit where credit is due: his writeup frequently makes it sound somewhat appealing, even though it rarely is. I'd like to see him write something else on here besides GJI.

So, in spite of myself, I've been won over by Lin-Manuel Miranda's charm offensive and the relentless marketing for Hamilton and am actually pretty excited about this since there's less than no chance I'll ever see Hamilton in the near future.
