Isn't Ravel's Bolero the canonical percussionist misery song with the same 2 bar snare ostinato for the whole piece? P&C doesn't sound that fun either though.

I always thought that line was in there too and was kind of surprised when I watched it again this morning and it wasn't. We've apparently conflated two lines into an even better line.

@avclub-b3d6e130a30b176f2ca5af7d1e73953f:disqus Because it's an iTunes "Smart Playlist" with the criterion "Artist is 'Rush'". Plus, sometimes I do give it a listen.

@abcdefz:twitter I think it gets slogged on so much because it's very Roger Waters-y and not as canonically Pink Floyd-y as their earlier stuff. Listen to it back to back with "The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking" (which even has a "Fletcher Memorial Home" reprise in
"4:50 AM (Go Fishing)" ) and you can see why people…

Nope, pretty sure it's Caress of Steel. Presto I'd put in the mostly forgettable, but perfectly listenable category. I skip most of Caress of Steel pretty much every time I'm listening to my Rush playlist.

@tcote76:disqus I find that "Outside" holds up pretty well if you uncheck (or skip if you're listening to the CD instead of using iTunes) all of the dialog tracks and just listen to the music.

I really like both "Animals" and "The Final Cut". I think they're underrated, but I also think you have to be somewhat sympathetic to Roger Waters pet issues to appreciate them. But, as I've mentioned before, "Animals" could be considered great for the Gilmour-played bassline on "Pigs (Three Different Ones)" alone.

No, Ohio is not particularly swampy. Columbus, the capital city (and where I grew up), was built on a swamp in a flood plain (in the early 19th century), but they've done enough flood control stuff that you'd never know now. Canton is about two hours north-east and not in the least bit swampy. It's just a midsize,…

And like Caroline John, she was only on for one season for basically that reason. The difference being that Mary Tamm quit because she was sick of not being able to showcase her "brilliant, competent, take-no-bullshit-from-The-Doctor"-ness versus Caroline John years earlier not having her contract renewed because the…

Did they do it in "At Last, the 1948 Show" as well or are you conflating it with the also pre-Python "How to Irritate People" that has it? Although in that it was Tim Brooke-Taylor, not Graham Chapman.
