The Night's Watch is pretty lax about enforcing the not-fathering-a-child bit of the vow. Mormont (I think) even says as much. As long as Benjen didn't try and claim the baby, or raise it Castle Black, or expect Jon to inherit the title of First Ranger, all he'd get is a disapproving frown, a stern talking to at most.

We already saw how that argument goes in the first half of "Hardhome," there wasn't much need to re-hash it again. Nobody understands how terrifying the White Walkers are until they actually see them in action. The entire series begins with Ned making that basic mistake, executing a man for betraying the Night's Watch

Yeah, Wallace wouldn't have a chance.

They want you to think that. Just another data point.

Naw, the long shots of Ghost were just Easter eggs for the readers.

Let's hope nothing at all ever comes down to Waukesha Anything.

I guess I don't read enough of the pre-season press. As a "book reader" (what'cha readin' for?) I know that GRRM studiously keeps flashbacks out of the books, and that the show has only shown one that I can think of previous to this. So it surprised me. I'm also just a touch surprised that they didn't have Maisie

Sounds like a natural fit for the EMP Museum in Seattle, I hope it swings by.

Ain't It Cool with Hong Kong?

You might be my slightly-younger Radcliffe doppelganger. That's what I looked like when I was 11, in 1981.

Going out drinking with either: incredible. Working with either: miserable.

I've always loved John Huston's voice as Gandalf in the animated "The Hobbit," but Ian McKellen pretty much owns the role for me now. It seems unlikely that anyone will try and remake "Lord of the Rings" any time soon, but who will play him in the much-needed retry of "The Hobbit"?

There's also "Finding Neverland" and that Alison Williams live thing.

If you can find it, All/Descendants is fun. Try searching for the two together.

My local university started offering a one-year certification in craft brewing a while back. Then it became a two-year cert. Now it's a full four-year degree program.

FICO used to be 820, now it's 850. It's pretty evil alchemy in any case.

Chris Hardwick has a Joffrey-punchable face.

Uff da.

Yep, I work for a big company where most people work from home most of the time. In theory I can go out on the porch to work, but going from two big monitors plus my laptop screen down to just the laptop is pretty miserable, sun notwithstanding. My VPN won't let me connect from most public networks, so working from a

They did give her that club night promotion thing early on, but that ended after maybe two episodes, she got screwed over and didn't try something like it again.
