The book is 95% about that stuff: spy plane development, above-ground nuclear tests, the political maneuverings to create it, turf wars to control it, etc. I think the crazy stuff is sort of tacked on at the end, though I didn't make it that far myself.

It used to be 1/4 pound hot dog which was borderline OK, but then they upped to a 1/4+ pound hot dog and just pushed the dog-to-bun ratio completely out of whack.
I just moved to Seattle and the Costcos here seem to be *constantly* insanely crowded. $1.50 hot dog and drink is pretty sweet, but damn it's a long line.

I'm a lifelong atheist and unabashedly love that ending (see also, "The Rapture").

Holly, FTW.

Tell that to the dead battery in my Roomba. Kinda sad how listless it is.

No, all the best music has not already been made, just the vast majority of it. There's a crucial difference.

I think there's a definite shift in Sedaris' voice between his earlier works and the ones that follow his "This American Life" semi-fame. Maybe it's just in my own ear, but by "Dress Your Family…" he had moved too far to the spoken word end of the spectrum and it's hard to read divorced from his performances. If you'd

I've never watched "The League" but "Curb" and "Sunny" are two shows I only watch when I catch them here or there. I'll enjoy a show entirely filled with repugnant characters for a while, but will always hit that "why am I spending time with these awful people?" wall eventually. I haven't rage quit either show but

But, c'mon, where else would it be built?

My guess is that his family's fishing cabin is down in the Detroit Lakes area…

I've seen more shows there and in the Entry than I can count. My first show there was Faith No More and Soundgarden opening for Voivod in about '90, blew me away. It was a few weeks after I'd seen some shitty concert at the Target Center around the corner and I vowed I'd never subject myself to another stadium show

I saw Pop Will Eat Itself there (as Glam Slam) in '91 and Gomez many years later. Decent place.
