There's a big stockdog trials event going on in the huge park near my house this weekend that I'm going to check out tomorrow. Though I'm more a lure-coursing sight hound kind of guy, those herding dogs are so damned focused it's fascinating and disturbing at the same time.

It always seemed clear to me that most magic was directly connected to dragons. When the last dragon died magic started to seep out of the world (though not yet entirely) and when Dani's were born magic started to return. For instance, in CoK, the pyromancers are surprised at how much more efficiently they are

Yep, just fleeting moments when the top didn't match the bottom. Overall, though, very cool effect. I especially loved he pauses where she was looking in two different (shifting) directions.

I know nothing of this Terra Nova of which you speak. Check the color of your universe, maybe you (and Stephen Lang) are in a better one than mine.

@QueenJaneMoreOrLess:disqus I'm guessing it's what he covers in a late chapter in The Demon Haunted World. It's been a long time, but he basically points out places where science is being used implicitly and could be brought forward in compelling fashion: analyzing evidence in a crime procedural, diagnosing patients

And if you happen to be a black lady, you'll get to hook up with him.

There's nothing Nietzsche couldn't teach ya 'bout the raising of the wrist.

Ronald Reagan (OK, third-tier movie star rather than TV); not just Sonny Bono, but Mary Bono, who's there basically for being the wife of a fifth-tier downhill skier; Heath Shuler, third-string quarterback; Jesse Ventura; Fred Thompson.

Montalban also doomed the human race by saving Caesar.

I wonder how often an actor was in both shows in the same season. They probably had to coordinate to make sure nobody showed up twice on the same night.

And Saturday Night Live a little bit later.

I've never been interested in a Love Boat style cruise, but I took a Hurtigruten trip up the coast of Norway that was great. That's a very different animal, though.

And the third has Carl Sagan!

Even today, in most places if you just look and act enough like you belong there nobody will question you. Even in supposedly secure places like airports and POTUS events some people can just stroll right in.

Fuck, do I hate that Six Feet Under episode. The show had been getting increasingly unpleasant for me leading up to that point and that's where I gave up for good. (My wife still liked the show so I saw enough of the rest of the series to know that I made the right decision).

As much as I love Raiders it's amazing how much I dislike the rest of them. I remember being impressed that they were going to have Indy tackle some non-Christian myths and legends, but Temple was just ugly and shrill. They were clearly so shocked at the reaction that they went straight back to the Raiders template

The entire series pivots on moments of jealousy, poor choices and bad timing and almost never on the opposite qualities. The murder of Jon Arryn, which kicks the whole series off, turns out to be just so petty. The prior war that put King Robert on the throne was similarly borne of pettiness and confusion, and the

I think Littlefinger recognized Arya and that they can fit that in to the context of the books. She'll be taking off back into the wilderness again soon, so his knowing that she was at Harrenhal won't really be of value once he gets back to King's Landing.

He's about as old as I pictured him since what I remember is the contrast between him and Old Nan, his (great?) grand-mother. Even though Hodor wasn't particularly young, that's how amazingly old Nan was.
