I always loved the little aside that the pyromancer's production had improved dramatically lately and they didn't know why. (Dragons!)

Damn, I am happy that I only feel that pain indirectly. My wife is a grad school TA grading shitting assignments all the time and my sister a college English and creative writing instructor; the latter just posted catching her first plagiarist of Spring Semester — and they were in the home stretch!
Ramsay is so central to the way things play out in Winterfell this season and into future seasons, I'd be surprised if they somehow wrote him out entirely. Of course, I thought the Reeds were central to Bran's story and they appear to be gone.
@avclub-d6d5abb0f32fcdc07c1bf487ec5ce10a:disqus In the book Quorin chooses Jon for his group and there's basically no discussion. Good catch on Jeor vs Jorah Mormont, you beat me to it.
Bran's scene a bit later, where he sends out Ser Rodrik against Luwin's advice, fits in as a bit of a counterpoint. Younger son in new position of power; no father to please but still fellow men to impress. We know that Bran's success at impressing the people around him will have dire consequences.
Previews for next week seem to suggest that Catelyn is back with Robb next week, so there will probably be another scene with Jaime as well, just to keep him in mind for newbies. He'll also be name-dropped frequently by his family where possible.
I thought they hinted at her love of Renly pretty heavily when she won the tourney and asked to join his Kingsguard. Loras hinted at it too, in his petulance later.
I'd've liked it if they'd left in the one lord who was there and let them get away, just to further fuel the confusion about what exactly happened in the tent. Leaving that up to be conveyed by Cersei was kind of distant.
I hope they do the Starklings as anti-cliffhanger, pretty much as in the book. "Kill" them sometime during Episode 7 or 8 (I'm not paying attention to future ep names so have no idea on where pacing will place it), probably the end, then treat them as dead and gone all the way to the very end of the series and close…
@avclub-98470000dfdbcbccf2c7cd42d80955ae:disqus Check out the documentary "Murderball." Aside from documenting a really fun-looking sport it includes some very frank discussions about life with varying degrees of paralysis, including dating and sex.
Damn, someone not getting the lampshade reference, I feel *old*…
@avclub-37e5fa01ac8fcad77aabe4d859e0235d:disqus I so want to get to the point where Siri type apps can recognize modestly dumb questions and give suitably insulting responses. Most people wouldn't really want that, though, so it would show up in settings as an option you could turn on or off.
As soon as they started talking about turning off the machine I was wondering what might happen to Peter, so it made sense to me that they wondered as well. I think their doubts about being able to turn the machine back on were tied to wondering if they'd have Peter there to do it; even with Peter there will they be…
I'd love for the three of them to make a third, and a fourth, etc, checking in every ten years or so. Give them an excuse to wander around a different beautiful city talking. Or else wait another 20 years or so and have the third be of them in their 60s.
I love that whole little story he tells. I went through a very similar transition when I was his age, thinking I'd be a teacher or some sort of helping people profession until I realized I didn't actually like people nearly enough.
"Regal CEO Amy Miles' Asshole Son" seems ripe for gimmick poster status.
There are no limits to the youthful beatings the younger Hanks' character suffered prior to the events of Orange County. What an insufferable movie filled with insufferable characters front to back. That well was so poisoned I had a hard time watching him play the entirely likeable singing priest on Mad Men…
GRRM is very particular about never letting us directly into the heads of most of the main claimants to the throne(s). Robb is the only Stark not to have POV chapters (and 3-yr-old Rickon, who will probably get his before all is said and done). Robert, Robb, Renly, Stannis and Balon (and, spoilers, others) are all…
It's really no different than any of the other torture scenes, other than the women are naked and they start out thinking it is mildly kinking spanking. It's mostly Joff enjoying the power to order people to hurt other people. If he's aroused by it, it is in exactly the same way he's aroused at seeing members of the…
Nothing that happens in Riverrun in book 2 *has* to happen at Riverrun. They've already moved Jaime's imprisonment out of there. Hoster Tully is there dying, but that's mostly to pile on Cat and there's plenty else to make her despairing. There are some hints of Edmure's shakiness but he mostly makes the right moves…
