A Man Of Discerning Taste

You're willfully distorting the context.

My last post was a little glib, but there is something I've been wanting to get off my chest: I've gotten the sense that a lot of people who post here view great art as necessarily having some sort of (veneer of) sophistication or complexity, which I think is why you guys go so apeshit for Christopher Nolan and

OK I'm trying to say that I think you only made it murkier but if you don't want to talk about it that's ok.

All I'm saying is that all you guys are acting as if Kanye being with Kardashian, or being super rich, or whatever, somehow color him unfavorably and I don't really get what you mean. Maybe you didn't literally mean 'true artist' but it seems to represent what you mean anyway.

because he was so unknown before pitchfork and everyone else decided mbdtf was album of the year.

Go back to the foo fighters you guys, you sound a little too insecure to appreciate kanye.

Do you guys even mean anything when you say "true artist" or is it just a phrase you like?

"I know this isn't everything … but… I can't think of anything quoteworthy."

He wasn't photographed for intershow stills?  OH MY GOD WHAT A DOUCHE

I replied before he added his second sentence.  Anyway Runaway was pretty nifty but I like the album version so much more than any live recording I've heard that I dunno.  Both Runaway and Power were definitely better than New Slaves though.

I didn't.

I mean, I get why people think that about kanye but why does this episode have anything to do with that

"But they wasn't satisfied unless I picked the cotton myself"

DISLIKE

Uh do you seriously not think that was all set by kanye?

Still the first coming.

Kanye's first song was the best thing I've ever seen on tv.

I don't get it, Kanye West is the greatest living American musician.

I think those of us here who like kanye a lot don't care too much for most of the other superstar pop stars.  At least, I can't think of anyone remotely as popular who's even nearly as good.

I'm not so crazy about the music he's been doing in the last one or two years (I mean it's good but I think not up to the standards he's set for himself) but there's more fundamental vitality in MBDTF than in any of your Radioheads or Wilcos or whatever you people like so much.
