Lyrics so relevant and beautiful they bring a tear to my eye. I can only assume it didn't qualify because it doesn't have "sweater" in the title like all those listed.

So plasma is gonna go right here. Probably like 50-inch, you know, wall-mounted.
I was so bruised after seeing them live in London recently that a stranger asked me if I was a heroin junkie because of the state of my arms. Admittedly he was an idiot of a stranger, but still…
It's all very confusing. Last week's article was about how important Riot Grrrl was, and I don't think it would have existed without Grunge. So yes, it really did matter.
Ramona's hot, superficially confident, unattainable - what's not to like?
I saw it last week too. I think it's the first ever time I've seen a film before the AV Club review went up. I thought the cinema would be packed but there was only about 30 people in there, and nearly all of them stayed for the mid-credits and post-credits scenes.
Is there any chance you're available for hire?

… And You Will Know Us By This One Of The Direction
Yep, same here. Friends of my parents played us the VHS of it when I was 10 and I can still clearly remember the compulsion to wanting to watch it again afterwards, especially Psycho Killer with the ghetto blaster as backing.
Superb, I'm seeing the two of them play tomorrow night. I assumed it would just be their collaborative album that would get an airing, but all the better if there's going to be some Talking Heads being played (and some of each's solo stuff?)
She's pretty.
Superficial doesn't mean it's not true.
How could any article about pretentiousness in music not mention Grimes? I like her enough, but she may as well be talking a foreign language when she talks about her music.
Now we're getting somewhere. The article could have pushed this point further - Bowie and Monae get away with being pretentious because they make great music, so good you forget about or ignore the nonsense surrounding it.
I wish I could avoid looking at them. But they're so fascinating. How can you just be happy listening to the music when just below the fold there could be a totally irrelevant but incredible screaming match about racism or sexism or both.
It's a hard thing to hate. They write their own lyrics and music, they dress a little bit punky, the lead singer doesn't exploit her looks, and they don't take themselves too seriously. Their only crime is writing music that isn't to everyone's taste and at worst is lacking a bit of substance.
Pretty obvious isn't it, she's taking a picture on her phone for her boyfriend - you can see her arm coming up holding the phone - and then the picture has magically against-all-expectations at-incredibly-long-odds somehow made it into the public domain. Incredible.
