Wow, I'm intrigued at how The Middle is ranked so high (having watched the first two seasons and then gave up), but I also have no inclination whatsoever to find out.

Finally got around to shotgunning the last 10 episodes of Fringe.

But the trip to the other side DID need to happen:  It provides Olivia the boost of Cortexiphan she needs to finally beat Windmark in the end.  That's why Micheal stepped off the train in the first place.

Hm, I haven't seen 3 of those shows, but the one I have seen was awesome (Veronica Mars).  I don't think any show has weaved a single season mystery as well as VM S1.  And it didn't even need an overarching mythology to do it!
