It's no "Filliam H. Muffman", but it'll do in a pinch.

It was like a water clock down on Bajor.

Plus it's a self-correcting mechanism. If the Jem'Hadar go bugfuck crazy on themselves and everybody else in the area, soon you have a lot of corpses but no actual problem.

Exactly. Industrial capacity is no joke when you also have tube-grown, fully-trained soldiers and industrial replicators.

"Doomed samurai" is bang on the money.

Yeah, neither Odo or O'Brien had any business at all being on that mission.

I really liked Keevan. The casting was great, first off: the actor had a disconcerting moon face and glassy, staring eyes like a fish.

Agreed on both points. A moment of mundane human irritation—"They're the only pair I own that really fit!"—works well in a context of total disaster, especially since it'd be a little flaky if, say, Dax said it. But coming from O'Brien, who is probably the least flaky man imaginable, it's fun times.

Rappin' Jake Sisko is like the Dread Pirate Roberts.

You know, I never noticed it before, but DS9 still has bright ambient light and seems to be a comfy 68 degrees even while the Dominion is in charge. This raises a few interesting possibilities.

Have you ever seen Martin Sheen's non-union Mexican equivalent, a.k.a. his twin brother? It's quite eerie.

@avclub-d7f43e1fb2d4977c86163d9b0cb07814:disqus I've never heard that 'water' thing before. Offhand I'd say it was some long-form humor about the evils of diluting one's scotch.

"… No."

HDTGM is easily the least of the three. They occasionally elicit a chuckle, but they just don't have the energy of WHM, let alone the Flophouse.

@avclub-dc10fce584f2cdf09d6690e0f2883227:disqus Perhaps I expressed myself badly, because you've utterly missed my point.

@avclub-81f1e2cb3513ac18c77dd0159ec182c3:disqus Well-put.

I hope that you guys felt a little silly after that one, at least after you regained consciousness and swallowed some painkillers.

Not to mention that intentionally fomenting conflict tends to favor those species that are good at survival, but not necessarily abstract thought or complex actions.
