@avclub-782066c88e9c574d6085f3ddfc7032e4:disqus That's not Wayne Brady's character arc at all. If anything, he's tokenized for being a gay version of Barney, not a black version. Not that that's better, mind you.
I don't think I've ever liked Michelle Rodriguez in anything, ever. I mean, Lost was the nadir, but she's terrible. She would have been awful as either Black Widow or Maria Hill. I thought Scarlet was pretty damn good as Black Widow.
They were both great on the show—each a big part fo what made season 5 good. The Holly/Michael flirtation was adorable, and String was as ruthless a businessman as you'd expect once he went straight. I liked his deadpan talking head where he just said "Yes, I'm aware of the effect I have on women."
I'm pretty sure all Jets fans hate Tebow and hate that he's on the team. Also, I am a Jets fan.
You guys are thinking about Frank Fontana. I forget the name of the actor who played him, but that's easy enough to figure out.
I'm 30. I really like this show, but it also is reminding me of people I'm glad I quit hanging out with.
I'm pretty sure the book the episode writers had in mind was A Long Way Gone by Ishmael Beah—a former child soldier who came to America, went to college, and wrote his memoir (I actually went to college with him, and had a creative writing class with him where he workshopped a piece of his memoir). A bunch of…
There's that episode where they fight for Erin's attention (back when she was first introduced), by trying to out-pick each other on "Country road" before just betting into playing the song with each other. I loved that joke.
YES. Kill her kids and make her watch. Tell her you'll stop if she can hold back her tears.
What about being a sports commentator? You know how I always make those witty comments during a game?
Actually, Sam doesn't enlist Harry at all. Harry takes it upon himself to enact that ultimate comeuppance against Gary.
Sorry, BSC, not ASC. Damn Brits.
I'm completely on board with the Great Muppet Caper love. It's so amazingly funny and demented. How could you not feel it's awesome when it has, in addition to everything already said here:
Actually it was a previous job interview. He found out about the pregnancy after being interviewed by Dave Foley. He's currently employed by Martin Short, because environmental lawyers can only be played by Canadian comics.
In terms of longer form works, my rankings are (off the top of my head):
By that do you mean because it's awesome? Because the apocalyptic stuff in David Boring is awesome.
I met him at MoCCA many years ago—he was interviewed by Jonathan Lethem and then signed stuff afterwards. As he signed my Ice Haven (which had just come out) and David boring hardbounds, we made small talk where I expressed too effusively/geekily my desire to one day make a movie out of David Boring. He was incredibly…
I like Moore, but Watchmen is actually my least favorite of his major works (well, that was at least true until Lost girls came out. That was just monumentally mediocre) for exactly that reason—too florid. Trying too hard. From Hell is an utter masterpiece, however. V for Vendetta is pretty amazing too.
Well, I'll say that for me in the comics world at least, Clowes can do no wrong. Best living comic creator? Maybe. David Boring changed my life.
