The Milk Man cover? That's my username pic!

The G now does go to Park Slope. They smartly and finally extended it along the F line past Park Slope. The only thing that sucks is that it's still the G, and thus takes for fucking ever to get from one side of the line to the other. Ridiculously circuitous, zig zag route.

Wasn't the city limits even then. I mean, Downtown and Hollywood both have roots going back to the turn of the century, and of course Koreatown (then Mid-Wilshire) is pretty much right between the two neighborhoods. Back then it was a rich neighborhood in the heart of L.A. (which, yeah, L.A. doesn't really have

And to correctly go long with my comment "start with the Highlands" (a comment, with the exception of Macallan, I still stand by), I'd recommend Glenmorangie as a good starting Scotch. The 10 year is actually quite good. Unlike Macallan, which only starts getting good at the 12 year.

I thought MacAllan was a Speyside, but the damn bottle, which I checked to be sure, says Highland on it. But as I just discovered, the Macallan estate is in the Speyside. Stupid bottle.

I grew up in the Slope (back hen it was a middle class neighborhood and schoolteachers like my parents could actually afford to buy there) and throughout high school could never get my friends, mostly Manhattanites, to come to Brooklyn. Annoyed the hell out of me.

Trader Joes in L.A. also has Glenmorangie 10 for $30. Great deal.

All good choices, but I think Macallan is the best Scotch to ease a Bourbon drinker into the drink. As others have said, it's best to wait until you like Scotch to try the Islays. Start with the Highlands, I say.

While certainly true, it's still not the same as an AV Club inventory reading. That's what I'm looking for.

Eh, it's not so bad. I moved here for film school.

Damnit
I live in Brooklyn for the first 24 years of my life and no AV Club. Four years ago, I move to Los Angeles, and now the AV Club comes to NY?

Everything was good enough for Chruchill. He wasn't exactly discriminating in his liquor, if you know what I mean.

McCallan 18 is the most amazing tasting Scotch in the world. I've only had it a couple of times, but good god it's fucking amazing. I've also had Blue label a couple of times. Pretty great, but I'm one of those pretentious snobs that prefers single malts. I can't even drink a Scotch and Soda with Red Label. That's

Red Label is most assuredly a shitty Scotch. It's the lowest quality of any of the Johnny Walker blends (the order, from worst to best, is: Red, Black, Blue, with Green and Gold on the side as special blends, Gold being better than Green) and is made primarily as a mixing Scotch. Even there, it's not even a good soda

I'm with Phiawiat. Dancer in the Dark is absolutely gorgeous, but it's story is so…just…evil that I kind of hated it. Von Trier is always walking a fine line, but in Dancer he goes over that line and thus the movie goes from beautiful, heart-wrenching and transcendent (as is the case with Breaking the Waves) to simply

I love Sloop John B. That ain't no filler. The whole album is fantastic.

Dude, who doesn't love girl group music? In the same way that the Beach Boys' early stuff had a slightly punkish tinge, much of the girl group stuff did too, mixed in with pure, perfect pop and occasional snark. I mean, I know I'm primarily describing The Shangri-Las (who are beyond awesome), but that doesn't make the

I've never understood the amount of vitriol that people on comment boards level at others on the boards or the writers on the site. What is it about other people's opinions on pop culture that riles you up so much you have to attack the person himself? I've never seen anything all that offensive from TWfSM, other than

It's very strange for me to see people in the one thread calling Last Crusade crap and Dead Poet's Society, Death to Smoochy and, good god, What Dreams May Come good films and no one seems to be disagreeing with them.
