Sex and age
As much as I hate the term, Rabbit Run is very much a quarterlife book. I read it a couple of years ago, when I was 25, and one of the strongest feelings I had (other than loving it) is that there was no way I would have gotten it if I had read it any younger. It's so much about the restlessness you get as

That's Cremaster 3, which actually was the last filmed part of the five part cycle. He made them out of order, but the overall piece is supposed to be viewed in the numbered order of the film (you're supposed to watch it 1 thru 5, not 4, 1, 5, 2, 3 as is the filmed order).

I can't stand people like this, who blatantly dismiss anything that attacks their delicate sensibilities as "hipster" or artsy-fartsy. What does hipsterism have to do with 1940s and 1950s experimental film?

Weekend is my favorite also. And Masciline Feminine. Amazing films.

Oh, and Markmywords—you're right about Chabrol. My bad.

Of the just pre-Vertov group films, I do think Masculine Feminine is still pretty accessible. Other than that one, though, it's probably best to stay away from any post-Band of Outsiders (or MAYBE Alphaville) Godard film until you're really into his stuff. I love many of those films, but yeah, not for the initiated.

I second Krautrock and Post Punk.

I've also spent almost a decade trying to cxatch up on all of his 60s work—as the slow creep to put them all out of DVD occurs I slowly catch up. I've now seen 14 out of the 15 narrative features he did from '60-'67 (15 features in 8 years! Jesus), having yet to see only Made in USA.

Yeah, Malle was more of a perihperal figure.

For those that are painting Lost as the paragon of well thought out plot and perfect planning out of mysteries:

Problems with "Scar":

I really don't get the universal acceptance that "Black Market" was the series low point. It was bad, certainly. Terrible even. But "Scar" is the the worst fucking thing ever. It more than "Black Market" made me wonder if I should continue on watching the show. Luckily I of course did continue (good episode, by the

Yeah, I saw that SPOILER ad.

Yeah, I saw that SPOILER ad.

Yeah, I saw that SPOILER ad.

Er, Nathan, not Natham. Sorry.

Man, Natham you're a riddle in an emigna
You hate poetry, but are a huge hip-hop fan and will fight angrily with anyone who disparages Shakespeare.

Sometimes I take a great lotion…
…and realy cure my dry skin. That truly is a great lotion.

I think Cottle said something like "She found out she was pregnant a week before the wedding." So that's pretty late for them to just be "dating." Unless there are different traditions in the BSG Universe for when monogamy is expected to begin. Or something.

Chris—"Black Market" was bad. Really bad in fact. But the worst episode of BSG has to be "Scar." Yeesh. So fucking terrible. Back to back with "Black Market" too. Quite a double threat.
