Yeah, Identikit is the album's sole disappointment for me. The live versions of it are fantastic but for some reason they seemed to mess that all up on the album and make everything off-beat and random. The only time in their history I feel like they're trying too hard to be unusual. Also in the live versions you can

Three Men and a Rosemary's Baby

What are the odds for Rickon/Lyanna Stark?

I think that a lot of the reason the progressive moment runs up against against such vehement opposition is that certain opponents (discounting trolls and genuine bigots) are trying-however inarticulately-to voice precisely what you've said as problem that they see with progressivism.

I've heard this argument before about racism against white people, and I'm not too sure I buy it. It seems to be a very recent thing to define sexism and racism exclusively as results of power structures, and I think most people who've never explicitly been given this argument before would see it that way.

Season 1 of the Wire is kind of episodic, but more or less only with regards to the police stuff. Most episodes seem to follow the structure of the task force making some headway in the case, followed by their progress being thwarted by the higher-ups and/or the Barksdale gang, followed by them having to deal with

Who needs a star like Will Smith when you've convinced 'kooky, presumed-dead Area-51 scientist guy' to come back for another round?

I'm late to the party here (both in the comments and real world) but I've gotta say the 'no bail for murder suspects' thing was the part of the film that made me the least comfortable. So I'm on your side with this.

I get what you're saying but IIRC the filmmakers originally intended the film to be made for Zachary to watch when he was grown up, to tell him about his father. And it was to document their road trip on the way up to see Zachary's grandparents. So in that way it makes a lot more sense to me that they arranged it in

There are certain things about the twist that I see could feel exploitative but its placement isn't one of them. I mean its occurrence within the movie is actually what happened. They'd started filming the documentary before it happened, it's not like they shot the whole thing and then decided to have it as their big

This was the best Nick episode in a long time. His 'Oh-my-god-you-had-a-sex-dream-about-me,' and the accompanying facial expression on the 'me' was amazing.

That lyric perfectly encapsulates why I find them annoying. Like, rhyming the word 'sky' with 'high' is pretty much the most cliched pop music rhyme ever but they seem to think that by tossing 'fuck' in there they're being edgy, or something.

So, in case anyone is interested in what miiiiiight constitute a spoiler:

Ah yeah, I just got done watching that episode. I feel vindicated now!

Is it me, or are they really pushing the 'Jinx' references this season? There were Lillian's references to Durst at the beginning, they had that brief cameo by forgot-his-name-Portlandia-guy doing a kind of impression of him, Kimmy's constant burping as a sign of repression-thing, and then Krakowski and Camp both

Fair enough. For the record I do think Pablo Honey is a great album (Blow Out especially) but personally I'm glad they've moved on from it.

I'd just like to second the love for Staircase - it seems to get bizarrely overlooked by most people but it's an absolutely outstanding track. Definitely one of their best.

I've heard a lot of people calling for them to return to making OK Computer style music, but I think you're the first person I've heard who wants them to go back to Pablo Honey.

This! Downloaded as soon as it hit midnight over here and have been waiting for a place to talk about it all day. Your thoughts?

The example that springs to mind when I read your comment is Mozart, who even if he was heavily coached was writing songs when he was 5. So there clearly had to be some in-built talent there.
