I like the scumminess of it all. Sure, reading Bukowski isn't going to make you any smarter, and it's certainly not going to make you a better person, but we've all done a nice hot shit and I can see nothing wrong with expressing that in literature. I think Michael Pitt could be a good go-to bad guy for the younger generation. His eyes were impressively cold and dead in that 'Funny Games' remake.
