I agree with you on Landis' and the opening prologue, but the Tex Avery feel of Dante's segment was miles away from the tone of the original show. It didn't have the based in reality feel of the best TZ especially the episode it's based on. I understand the need not to do a beat for beat rehash it just felt too far…
