I'm always hoping to find something new and interesting in these Podmass articles, but these guys seem locked into the same couple dozen shows. And most of these seemed pulled from the Itunes top 100 in the comedy section.

The Passion of Joan of Arc is one of those silent films that is just as good as everyone says it's going to be. A silent trial film shouldn't work at all, but it's amazing. And watch it with the Voices of Light soundtrack on the Criterion DVD - it's a terrific score.

I still prefer "Lost Highway" to "Mulholland Drive", which seemed like a remake with more loose plot threads.

It's interesting, but the ending seemed abrupt and anti-climactic.

The original "Traffik" series (drug trade in Europe) translated nicely into Soderberg's "Traffic", so I don't see why this wouldn't work.

It's also pretty damn distracting with the food service aspect. Waiters asking about orders, wanting to know if you want anything during an important scene in the film, your neighbors endlessly discussing if they want nachos and if so what kind, ect. If you go to the Alamo Drafthouse and want to talk through the…

@avclub-a728eb04f5469d9c5ec50dfd13a067f9:disqus I thought Fring was gay, too. Like maybe he was in with the Pinoche government in Chile, met the young guy there while he was in college for chemical engineering and maybe put him through school more because they were dating. Then Fring has to flee, the boyfriend comes…

I saw Lost in Translation after getting back from a year in Japan. Scarlett Johannsen's character is an entitled, shallow brat (boo-hoo, I spent 45 minutes at a shrine but don't feel spiritually enlightened so I'm going to sit in my expensive hotel and whine to my friends back home). And Sophia Coppola seemed intent…

No, the book is hilarious. Bale overplays the smarminess so that Bateman seems less like an entitled, vacant douchebag and more like a spastic used car salesman.
