Even though HBO is hailed as the channel for quality shows for intelligent viewers it's biggest shows the ones which have the greatest ratings are those which have elements that appeal to the immature audiences.

I mean they did cancel The Brink after renewing it for second season.So it's not like they can't do it.

Speaking of Animated shows that A.V. Club loves, I started Gravity Falls this week and finished season 1 already. Fantastic show and I am very very happy that I came to know of this show last month due to the constant amount of complaining about scheduling in the comments section of the reviews.

Part of me wonders why did HBO wait till mid February to air it when they know it would be going against Walking Dead, Wouldn't it be smarter to release it earlier when there is a drought in Sunday Night TV?

Jesus Vinyl has that bad ratings? I mean I could understand if the pilot didn't get that many ratings due to being 2 hours long and on Valentine's Day.But the second episode has even worse ratings.

This show has become the Best non Saul thing in TV and I glad about it.
Also FX is gonna dominate the miniseries categories for the Emmys this year between Fargo, AHS and this. I just hope they have enough sense to put Paulson and Dunst in separate categories which would easily assure a win for both of them.

Yes but a pilot is still expected to have great numbers. Especially one whose name is attached with Scorsese and Mike Jagger.Also Boardwalk had great ratings for its pilot at least.

I don't watch this show but I am disappointed that it's only just plain boring D- bad not spectacularly you almost have to admire it F bad.

Now that it has been an year since the finale, Where does Boardwalk Empire rank among the HBO shows?
Not as high as the Holy Trinity or even something like Enlightened or The Leftovers both of which had a phenomenal second season but maybe as high as Game of Thrones or Six…

I mean yes they can't show boobs etc but that in a way used to make Mad Men in a way feel more sexy than the HBO or Showtime shows.
The subtlety and the charm that Mad Men employed made it feel much more sexier than say Game of Thrones or True Blood.
