Too soon?
After the "LOST" finale aired, all my friends were quick to hate on it, so I felt like the only person in the world who thought it was a legitimately thought-provoking, satisfying ending. I ended up in a lot of shouting matches — by which I mean my friends looking puzzled at me while I shouted at them.

I saw it on a plane, after Bullock had won her Oscar. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. What a lame performance in an even lamer movie.

Same here. I put a lot of friendships in jeopardy announcing my hatred with Avatar.

I knew a guy in college who went to see "Meet the Spartans" (I abstained, courteously) and when I asked him how terrible it was, he said, "Well, it wasn't as good as No Country For Old Men."

The best part of that storm ad was the throwaway at the end — "Paid for by the Farnsworth foundation."

"without any narrative justification whatsoever"? Wasn't that the joke?

Circusitis
I was at first worried at the circusitis bit, thinking it was absurdly stupid and a sign that the show had no idea what it was doing. The "children of all ages" line had me groaning even more — and then the spring snakes in the pill bottle sold it to me and got the laugh.

Stray Observations
Good to know this show's still delivering on the details:

I agree that if any year was LOST's year to win, it was Season Five. Even in Season Six, LOST is a great show — one of the most entertaining, cinematic, rewarding shows on television. But it's not really the great art that Mad Men or Breaking Bad is. The only Emmy the show really deserves this year is O'Quinn, whose

More like Dick DiPaolo, am I right??
I hated Nick DiPaolo on "Tough Crowd," and I still found myself hating him a bit during the confrontation with C.K. (hehe, Todd: "Could you guys stop having this conversation?"), but then I found myself sympathizing with him during the heart-to-heart at the hospital. Even when this

Now YOU'RE breaking my heart, OrangeCrush.

It's all worth it for that one day, some day, when she opens the door to fetch the paper and finds my heart, wrapped in paper, the blood of our love seeping into her stoop. <3

It's just not fair
When will Lizzy Caplan stop breaking my heart?

On a related note, Warren Oates, I can't wait until I'm a father so I can get up early with my kids and watch classic Simpsons episodes. That rocks.

@ Zombie Cult Hero

Maybe that's the reason I didn't really like "Up" or the second half of "WALL-E." Pixar's simplest stories have always been the best — Sully fostering Boo, Marlin searching for Nemo, Woody desperately loyal to Andy. The attempt at social satire in "WALL-E" or the adventure-for-the-sake-of-it in "Up" never work quite

@Penguin

This is interesting, because The Old 97's are a band that hits too close to home for ME for the same reason everything else in these threads does — it reminds me too much of my lost love.

That episode is beautiful even when you're a teenager. I can't imagine what it must have been like for you. Thanks for sharing.
