So hold on. What exactly is "premium storytelling"?

Plus Tomei, who doesn't get nearly the quality of work she deserves.

When a lesbian comic puts on makeup suggestive of a legendary gender-ambiguous, possibly-bisexual rock star and causes a gay man to feel a slight flicker of attraction, we've gone down the rabbit hole.

If there's any justice (in the small world of the reputations of Broadway musicals), people will eventually realize that FULL MONTY is a better show than THE PRODUCERS.

It's a wildly underrated show. I wish Yazbeck got the work and acclaim he deserves as a composer.

I think they cut the Narrator.

It combines several fairy tales (Cinderella, Little Red, Jack and the Beanstalk, Rapunzel, etc) with a frame story of a baker and his wife who are lifting a curse so they can have a child. It's cleverly done, mostly (though the book does have issues).

That's LORD Andrew Lloyd Webber, thank you very much.

I meant to make this comment here, not below:

I mean, can't it be both? Theatre in America does have serious issues with race/gender representation, but HOLLER IF YOU HEAR ME was also widely derided as having a clunky and preachy book.

I'm involved in theatre (and not at all in video games), and I think that the issue, even more than audience overlap, is that very few theatre-makers are interested in games, and vice versa. People who have a good enough understanding of how games function and how theatre functions to create works of art that meld the

More realism, sure, but "European art film that people attend because of nudity, which proves to be resolutely unsexy (or deeply disturbing)" is practically a cliche at this point.

That's a great frustration of mine: very few movies show sex in a manner that's at all realistic or believable, and those that do seem determined to avoid all charges of pornography by making the sex as brutal and emotionally devastating as possible. It's rare to see sex portrayed as an enjoyable activity that people

My commute would be so much better if there were more Klezmer bands on public transit. Get on it, groups of 6-12 Jews with musical instruments!

The play HIT THE WALL set the bar for Stonewall dramas pretty high. Good luck, folks.

Sign of my musical theatre Stockholm Syndrome: this actually sounds like a pretty good idea for a show. Fun plot, meaty roles, original score by one of the best composer/lyricist teams working, book by someone who knows the period…why the hell not?

They should've just called the show HOLY SHIT KELLI O'HARA CAN DO ANYTHING.

On a scale of 1 to TOP GUN, how does this rank in terms of homoeroticism?

There's a fine line between helping people have the tools to define their own sexualities in ways that are comfortable for them and ruthlessly interrogating/policing people's identities. If they're not hurting anyone, let them call themselves whatever they like.

I'm a gay man, and have occasionally gotten slightly turned on by love scenes between women in movies/plays so…yes, that is absolutely a thing.
