Great minds think alike, I guess. Short version: read that NPR piece.

My understanding is that it's because Ocean's paragraphs don't ever claim any identity (bisexual, gay, whatever), simply describing his experiences and feelings. As opposed to, say, Anderson Cooper, who came out of the closet in describing what he *is*, Ocean discussed what he *did*, leaving categories out of it

I saw it at the Music Box, introduced by Turturro himself. It's a bizarre film, but immensely entertaining. Absolutely worth checking out.
As for Sarandon, I think she's an exceptional actress, and she always gives the impression of being a lovely person. This was a very good interview—nice work, Noel. Though I would

*nerd moment* The American Airlines hadn't yet been renovated and reopened at the time—the production started at Criterion Center Stage Right (where Roundabout produced at the time), but I'm guessing you saw it at the George Gershwin, which is a damn barn.

This is a beauty of an album—I'm so pleased it's streaming on NPR. And Kelly's a hell of a live performer, too; I saw her last summer at the Old Town School and it was a wonderful show.

I had a LOT of trouble getting through "The Power and the Glory", and I generally enjoy Graham Greene. As for a good one to read, I think it's hard to go wrong with "The Quiet American".

Point taken—I don't even really hear the commonalities between Bush and Tori Amos, who are compared constantly. But it's hard to deny her influence—I definitely heard it on this album, and also on a few songs from Kimbra's "Vows" (which really should have gotten an AVC review, by the way).

Eh, if comparing other artists to Kate Bush gets more people to listen to Kate Bush, it's all to the good.

He doesn't like Tom Waits either!

While I love many forms of pop culture, this is why theatre is what I do: it's actually happening. As astonishing as film can be, it's past tense. I wish AVC had more theatre writing, because I love the way you guys have described your experiences.
