I Need To Watch This Movie Again
I was about 15 or 16 when I saw it, and I found the unconventional narrative too high a boundary to enjoyment. I need to watch it again and see what I was missing. I also *hated* McCabe and Mrs. Miller the first time I saw it (also in my mid-teens), so I clearly need to revisit his

Wow. Now all I need is a Netflix account and a whole lot of free time. Thanks for the suggestions, all.

AGREED on the accent. I don't know what the hell he was doing, but it didn't work. It wandered all over the map at unpredictable times. I think it would have been better to just make him a British immigrant than have that accent.

It's moderately funny (and I think the "Rock Me, Sexy Jesus" sequence is pretty amazing), but I spent most of the movie thinking what a waste it was. So many scenes, jokes, and character arcs had the potential to be hilarious and just didn't make it.

I Need More Stanwyck
The only of her films I've seen are "Double Indemnity" (hot damn what a movie) and "The Lady Eve" (and I think I was about 10 when I saw that). But clearly I need to check some of these out and get more Stanwyck in my life, because she was clearly wonderful. Thanks for the information, Noel!

Just about every town has a company that does this show ever Christmas season—it's cheap, hilarious, and much cooler than "A Christmas Carol." It's on its way to being overexposed, but it's still a whole lot of fun.

And probably less evil than the original.

Eight more day til Halloween,
Halloween, Halloween.
Eight more days til Halloween,
Silver Shamrock."

So do I! Though I still haven't seen Munich, their first blending, so I guess I don't really have a right to ask.

Nope, that would be Equus. No nudity that I know of in this one, though I haven't seen it. They keep promising to transfer it, but it seems to have stalled out.

It's Worked Before
A stage version of the novel, using elaborate puppets for the horses, was a huge hit at the National Theatre in London, and is now running in the West End. So at least in Britain, the appetite for sweeping stories of war and horses is pretty large.

Split infitives being called grammatically incorrect is an discredited rule, based on the fact that in Latin, infinitives are a single word. There's no real reason in English that they should be outlawed.

It's so much fun, along with the historical stuff (which is impressively complex for a Hollywood movie). All of those actors chewing the scenery to bits! It's delightful. And it's the movie that first introduced me to the stunning Cherry Jones, who I hope does another play soon because DAMN is she good.

Just pointing out from that list: Cradle Will Rock. Fuck yes, I love that movie. Leftism and musical numbers and every awesome character actor in Hollywood. It's like someone designed a movie specifically for me to love it.

It is not easy to be a theatre person on the AV Club
Minimal coverage of the art form, except when some idiotic thing like this happens. I swear, there's good stuff happening all over the country, all the time. I also think there's a very strong chance this won't ever actually be produced, because even the people who

Oswalt can not catch a break. I still think he would have been great on Broadway too. Hopefully someone will wise up to his skills.

Agreed, soce, strongly agreed.

Please Use Her Well
She is so talented, hilarious, classy, and awesome still, and she mostly gets cast in shit when she works at all. Please make something worthy of her.

We will take Fiddy if you will take Perez Hilton. FInal offer.
