Great question. I really really wish he didn't. It seems like he just stopped after Grantland fell. But I don't know why he couldn't just write on tennis for a different publication.
https://twitter.com/brianph… and i really hope he's serious about writing something on it
Yeah, and I think Murray just seems like a really genuinely good guy too. I like him.
I'm being really cranky after such a great match. And we're getting Federer-Nadal for the third time this year too.
Sometimes it's awful, others it isn't so bad.
Also, I know the media narrative in the Aussie press is horrible with him. Cahill actually lives in the United States, so that might help explain why he's above it.
He's so fun to watch too, especially now that he seems to really have his head in the game. He makes a lot of quirky decisions that makes him unique but he also just has such an incredible skillset. The "sideshow", the micro-aggressions are so minor when you actually watch him play for an hour or two. The ESPN…
It does, though I don't really mind being blocked by her and I think it's pretty funny.
Like, I get that crowds are going to be a bit partisan, especially when Federer is playing - I'm used to that and okay with it. But you'd think when both guys are making incredible shots, they'd show some appreciation and applaud the other guy as well.
Someone yelled on the third last point where he shanked it. Kyrgios angrily yelled back, telling them to "shut the fuck up". Really couldn't blame him.
Haha I just tweeted at Nick "that crowd was fucking pathetic, man. call them out" and he liked it almost right away.
I did! It's so weird.
What an awful, awful crowd.
Tennis fans: tune into Federer-Kyrgios. This first set is the best tennis I've seen since…. Dimitrov-Nadal at the Australian Open.

I think it's motivated more by virtue signalling which is more of a condition of Tumblr wokeness than hot take culture. Hot takes are just meant to generate attention, revenue, clicks, etc.
I'm gonna try to limit myself to watching the 1000s around this time of year, since there's a long spell between the Australian Open and French Open. I tend to go through tennis withdrawals until the summer. From May to September, I can afford to focus just on the Slams.
I actually started watching some 500s and 250s recently but that's definitely too much tennis.
