We are discussing it because we as a people feel like we need to our 2 cents. What I meant was that Anna Gunn herself isn't necessarily prompting us to discuss this. She's exposing how wrong these people are and saying they should stop, not asking what they think of her article and her defence of Skyler as a character.
I thought 'her' episode in Season 6 proved that she'd moved on. Don was rather shocked to find her so engulfed in Henry and the kids the next morning without even a lingering look of regret in Don's direction.
Or perhaps the consistent hints that she suffered (mental, with perhaps occasional physical) child abuse? The episode where she visits her family estate is heartbreaking.
@avclub-0ae7484a9f3bbd2a21df420050c032ae:disqus don't get me wrong, I enjoy Lydia too! But I'm not going to sit there and love her character and hate Skyler simultaneously. That's nonsensical.
I read an article about the "Skyler White effect" and it discussed how once a female is painted as a "bad mother" she is forever hated by the audience. I find that kind of sad, really. Because, being a mother shouldn't define a woman. ALL of the male characters on the show are god awful fathers. Why must we make…
I see where you're coming from. Yes, she can be aggravating sometimes but I don't expect to love her 24/7. Even when I disagree with one or two things she does, I can still understand why she's doing it.
Tragic, right? And the fact these same people are trying to prove they aren't sexist but then going out of their way to like Lydia of all the female characters.
I agree with this so much. I think she's a fantastic actress as Betty and the fact people judge her on that Emma Frost performance makes me forever roll my eyes. You wanna talk about Skyler being in an abusive relationship? What about Betty!? See this article for what I'm talking about: http://www.salon.com/2010/0…
They saw the light (aka jumped on the bandwagon)
AKA The dudebros who watch it for the meth cooking
Carmela was one of the best characters. David Chase knew that, and so did The Emmys. I'm struggling to comprehend anyone hating Carmela, unless you're in to that kind of sociopathic lifestyle.
She's not starting a conversation. She opened and closed it all in that article.
Every article in that vain ends with a similar line which is put in by the editor.
No they don't.
It still boggles my mind how any one can (still) hate Skyler White. The only reason I can think of for hating her even now is just pure sexism/misogyny. Same goes for Carmela Soprano. With Betty Francis I can see why people may dislike her for reasons beyond sexism, but I still love her nonetheless.
Haha, so true.
Not quite, but okay…
Who said it wasn't offensive? TRUST ME, it is. AND he is advocating for gay rights without even being queer, lol…Don't get me started on Macklemore!
Maybe for white people then…
